Productive, learning place and fun at work
A typical day in office starts of with allocation of cases for triage to the triage officers and tracking their completion. Followed by a check and clean up of emails and prioritizing the same. Any update received from the sponsor is cascaded to the team and shared accordingly. Then quality review of cases (spontaneous/ clinical trial) which are being prioritized based on compliance query. Meanwhile knowledge sharing with associates with respect to case processing and troubleshooting any of their issues in a timely manner. Learning: Technicalities of pharmacovigilance, work allocation and prioritization and time management. Good rapport with the co-workers and helping them with case processing issues/ challenges. The hardest part of job is compliance management which forms the core of any pharma industry. Enjoyable part of job: New learnings every day and interaction with partner centers and sponsors.

Good
Job security , planning and execution done by team so work pressure is minimal, salary is now pretty good in the company due to talent crunch , work - life is at its best here ..really cant compare this with other org.. Dislikes Management needs a overall , better to get good leaders from Top consulting companies like Accenture , Cognizant etc ..as most of the time the current leaders are clueless and directionless. Many employees have left recently due to no proper directions..it changes every year and company spends a fortune to plan the new strategy which anyway changes next year. The team culture depends on which dept you join ..there is micromanagement in most of the teams. no tools to measure productivity or utalization - managers do it manually and employees estimate and enter 8.5 hours daily ..really do they work 8.5 hours..? learning new tech depends on which team you join , most of them are older ones and some teams (priviledged few ) get to work on AIML or big data

An excellent place to develop skills regarding clinical research
The regular working week is always steady with several timelines to match for existing and other projects in pipeline so at quintiles you get a platform to learn and develop your skills in the field of clinical research right from site identification to the project management and till the project completion also the management being active in every aspect helps in troubleshooting at every stage but the difficult situations usually are at the point of project initiation and the transition phases between the departments as several aspects have to be cleared and considered but this being a challenging environment is also the best enjoyable part of the job.

Good working hours, but efforts do not pay
The good thing about IMS is that it is flexible when it comes to working hours. For example, my manageress would allow me to come in half an hour early and leave half an hour early. During my tenure, I gained expert knowledge in pharmaceutical patent law. A typical day would involve analysing patent families for marketed drugs that were listed in a prioritisation Excel file. This took up 90% of the days activities. The remainder would involve updating your own specific weekly processes. This bought some variety into the job albeit short-lived. The management I have to say was biased towards some people. It was difficult for most of us. I personally believe it was a clash of personalities and office politics. My manager and I had a few run-ins and I reported her to her manageress on a few occassions for being unprofessional. For me it was a very frustrating place to work since both manageresses did not understand that I was fighting a battle against anxiety. The medications I was on were making it difficult for me to concentrate and I made them aware of this. For this I was reprimanded and I went into depression and stress. I was able to fight it off but my health suffered and so I just did the best I could. But that was not good enough for them. I filled in gaps where people had left them, putting in extra effort to please my managers. One of the most frustrating things was the fact that they could not understand why I was producing less work compared to the rest of the t

Only for you if you have nothing else to go to
The job itself is simple and unchallenging, it is made difficult by the demands of a hierarchy who fundamentally do not understand the roles of their employees (they valiantly try to defend themselves on here, but at the many meetings I had with them, they all sat quietly mumbling poorly attempted platitudes, it was embarrassing/hilarious/saddening). A dismissive toxic management with no command of anything remotely clinical or even practical, but very happy to dismiss concerns from professional medical experts. Lots of positive sound bites issued, but little actual practical help and no attempt at ownership of...just about anything. The management have a working directive to offload as much responsibility as they can get away with onto the worker. The core of the study is based on money gained for participant sampling. Management is thus obsessed with chasing targets and lean heavily on study workers making them responsible for participants not being able to attend an appointment. The workplace culture is dependent on whatever the weekly whims of management dictate. The workers are nice enough, but the immediate line managers are notably absent from any practical problem-solving, but they're really adept at avoiding questions and very good at sending pdf's/PPT's explaining how the study worker should be doing things. These, for the most part these seem to be written by people who have not undertaken and do not understand the role. On several occasions, I asked to sp

Large company with several perks and room to move around
A typical day at work for me involved working queues of data inquiries, whether it be providing resolution or opening a ticket for another department to resolve. Work was extremely driven by numbers and output volume. Everything was tracked and compared with set metrics. Working on healthcare data every day, I learned a great deal about the healthcare market in the United States, including how health systems are structured, different types of healthcare facilities, and the different types of healthcare providers. I also learned just how important clean and accurate data is, and how much work is needed to maintain it. Culture overall was fun and laid-back. Many people wore jeans and shorts into the office regularly. We'd have potluck lunches a few times a year. I got the impression that management didn't care about the success/well-being of their employees. They often took a very passive approach to helping their subordinates succeed. They'd stress that their door is always open, but if you ever try to schedule a meeting with them, they'll either cancel it an hour before, or just keep rescheduling it for another time. It made me feel like I was their last priority. The hardest part about working here is the annual goals and competency assessments. Raises and bonuses were heavily dependent on how you met your goals (which were all pre-written and assigned to you by corporate and were very "cookie-cutter" in nature). No one enjoyed doing them, very few even understo

IT Support: Quintiles Plaza in RTP- Great place to develop a foundation
A typical day at work would start out by walking into work about 15 - 60 minutes early. Being part of the Windows 7 upgrade project, I would send out mass emails to Quintiles Employees using a stationary template email informing them that they are ready for a Windows 7 upgrade. Shortly after, the ticket queue is checked to see the incoming schedule for upgrades. I would enter them into a detailed spreadsheet. Depending on what the date was, I would print out a sheet for all users scheduled for that day. Usually I would have pre-built machines by using the PXE boot (or NIC) Quintiles Windows 7 Imaging Software from the day before. If I did not, I would check the Asset Management Database to check on their laptop make, model, hard drive, and RAM; and then create a mirror image (according to specifications) of their current laptop. Application lists from the SCCM database are created for the users being upgraded. Then they are assigned to the newly imaged computers, and are installed. I send out another email to arrange a scheduled pick up time to those who are scheduled for the day. If I do not have many upgrades for the day and complete all of the preparation work prior to the first pick up, I will check the incident queue and assign tickets to myself and resolve any pending issues. I pick up the users laptop from their desk or arrange to meet them in the lobby. Once a laptop is picked up, I decrypt the data, and start a data transfer. This can take anywhere from 2-5 hours dep

Great management but company culture not conducive to helpdesk success
I worked at this company for many years, specifically at the Chesapeake helpdesk. Management has always been stellar. They are fair. They care for and listen to their employees. They are exactly who you want guiding you. However, End User Services (the helpdesk) is an extremely small component of a global organization employing about 70,000 people. Most of what they do is not related to helpdesk support. Many processes and policies are set at a high level and applied to all facets of the business, regardless of whether they are a good fit for an individual department. There is nothing IQVIA loves more than bureaucracy. The process is always more important than the outcome or experience...whether it's the customer experience or the employee experience. What does this mean in practical terms? Things move glacially slow here. If it should take a week, it takes 2 months. If it should take a month, it takes a year. On top of that, the people in entry-level positions work incredibly hard, are expected to become experts in a massive amount of information, and are held to the highest standards. However, they are paid very little. You can roll out of bed and get a job making at least as much money in many other companies. Turnover has become quite high, the overall quality of employees has diminished, and there is insufficient labor to meet the contractual obligations to our clients. The state of the helpdesk has gone downhill dramatically over the past 3 years and the future is

Productive and Rewarding Workplace
A typical day would include analysing data and performing reconciliations of projects. Managing expectations of project teams while answering payment queries from a variety of internal stakeholders. I have learnt how to work under high pressure to meet tight deadlines and how to manage a large workload while prioritising the most important and highest impacting tasks to the companies goals. Management have been very supportive in my development and have allowed me to progress quickly in the company. There are times when management have been highly busy, but this has suited my proactive, independent qualities which have allowed me complete needed tasks to a high standard with little support needed. The work culture is very friendly and there are a large number of recreational activities and sports available to get involved with. This has allowed me to meet a large amount of people at my time in QuintilesIMS. The hardest part of my job was dealing with the quick progression within my department. I had to work hard and learn quickly to look at the bigger picture rather than getting caught up in the day to day activities. It was important for me to see what actions would have the biggest impact on achieving the departments and company' goals without getting influenced by the little things that went wrong within the process day to day. Finally I had to learn how to delegate tasks to allow myself to be able to complete more value added tasks that would benefit the department in

Quintiles is challenged to meet the high expectations and demands of the pharmaceutical companies they work with.
* Typical day as Administrative Assistant: Fast paced environment. But I enjoyed the variety of work. I worked diligently to meet deadlines from multiple staff members. * Typical day as a Clinical Trial Assistant: My typical day as a Clinical Trial Assistant was generally determined in advance. I knew what I needed to do each morning. It was predictable in that I could bookmark where I left off on a file review and resume it the following morning. There were usually no variations in my day other than the occasional impromptu meeting. * What I learned: I enriched my knowledge of Microsoft applications, in particular, with Excel. Time Management - I kept a task list in Outlook so I knew what I accomplished as well as notating outstanding tasks. Through my job, I became extremely organized and able to shift my workload priorities as needed. My Administrative Assistant position was very challenging and my manager was a superior mentor. * Management staff members were professional and respectful to me. For the most part, they were easy to work with! * I truly enjoyed my co-workers at Quintiles and was able to interact with different levels of management and staff. * The hardest part of my job would be spending too much time doing someone else's work when I should teach them how so they would be self sufficient. An excellent example of this would be preparing expense reports for staff. When I started at Quintiles, the admins were expected to prepare and sub

Great Company
A typical day at Quintiles is very hard to note here as there wasn't one. We always joked that as soon as you wrote a to do list something would come up to change that. Really work was very much structured on a monthly basis as many duties fitted better into that cycle. Quintiles is a great, dynamic and fast moving place to work. Working in the Health Care Sector also gave a great pride in your work and it was really somewhere where you could forge a fantastic career, as I did. I learnt loads in my six years at Quintiles. Joining the Operations Team initially, I quickly bought into the company values and realised this was somewhere I could be successful. With the support and advice of my then manager, and recognition of my skills, I transferred to the Finance Team and never looked back. So I learnt everything about Finance within this role. I excelled at use of the system and being more a 'communicator' then a 'bean counter' and was quickly recognised as such. Along with the goals of the team, this coincided with a department structure change and I found myself in a Business Partner role very quickly. As time progressed so did my responsibility and by the time of leaving I was in charge of nearly two thirds of the projects by revenue value. Hours at times could be long, but it really was up to you. I've you had a job to do you did it. Not always because someone was breathing down your neck but because you wanted to and you wanted the company to be a success. The people

Was ok but heading downhill
I started out really enjoying working at IMS but now I realize that is because I had a great boss when I first got hired. Because of him I ended up thoroughly trained and prepared to lead independent projects. Since then, I am now on my fifth boss in three years due to the high turnover. Skilled people who have excellent interpersonal skills in addition to technical skills are leaving. They are being replaced by insourced and outsourced labor, many of whom have great technical skills but no ability to interact with clients and coworkers and to think through a business problem in a creative manner. Management says they care about training but in reality people are woefully unprepared and under trained to do their job. Having them on a project team is a huge challenge. This has had a huge impact on the culture and the ability to serve clients. The company apparently no longer thinks of itself as a consulting company with great data assets, but more of a technology/platform company. I am frustrated at the lack of care for quality and for delivering good services to our clients - its all about meeting quarterly revenue targets with no regard for consequences. Senior management does not communicate with employees at all. I have no idea what the company's goals or values are and I highly doubt there are any aside from meeting quarterly targets. I do maintain great work life balance because I am in a remote office. Things at headquarters are apparently different with man
