Our Company is a very new company which is a Joint venture between L&T (Indian Company) and KOBELCO (Japan Company) with a capacity of 60 employees overall. We have Engineering , Purchase, Marketing & Sales, Planning, Quality, Assembly, Manufacturing departments. I belong to the Engineering department which functions as a central information/driving force/input to other departments.
The main products of the company are Rubber Mixers & Twin Screw Extruders, The entire design, documentation, Improvements part of Rubber Mixer are taken care by me and by my senior.
I was very new to the job and Industry, initially I didn't know what is my work or work plan, but by regularly interacting with other departments, mails, Seniors advice & from my hard work came to know about my work clearly, then I started to make my own plan, schedule in an Excel sheet to complete it timely. But often there will be unlisted works (Assembly support, Vendor clarifications, unscheduled meetings etc which affects my schedule a bit).
The employees here are generally very young with few years of experience apart from the Top Managers. The seating arrangement in the Engineering team is in such a way that we can directly communicate with Electrical, Manufacturing, Seniors immediately (communication barrier is avoided & Collaborative design is implemented here ). I like my team very much because they support & share work during hard times, crack jokes in the free time. Whenever I face problem, our seniors d

Pros
Good HR practices with relation to employee engagement and training needs. Clear description of roles and responsibilities. Facilities provided for employees are comparable/ better than peers in the industry. Technologically superior in the field. Good pay and performance rewards, but only if you stay long enough and cross the executive/ engineer levels. Sincere attempts at maintaining work life balance in the management office campus.
Cons
Utter scarcity of projects due to poor vision, leading to retrenchment of good quality staff. Poor growth opportunities due to lack of projects. No policy on employee retention, or transfer of employees with little/ no work to other units of L&T that are hiring. Location of single management office without any branches elsewhere in India, especially closer to the offices of its main customers (Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai etc). Pay is decent only beyond the entry executive levels; there will be tremendous work pressure and politics involved before you can cross these into the management levels. Little to no respect/ higher education support to Diploma holders. Present working sites are far flung in remote villages, where there is no question of work life balance.

New Tool Matlab 2009
Learnt Management skills since it was the first time I was dealing with a team of 20 and also leaded them for some time.
Professional work enviroment.
Management
It was co-orperative and supporting one.It gave me lot of opportunities of growth and exposure to learn
Co-workers
It was a blend of formal and in formal work culture. All were highly co-operative in terms of learnings and difficulties faced.Since it was a learning experience for all,the experience became extremely smooth.
Hardest part of the job was -
At times the deadlines were really stringent which required huge number of extra hours and also weekends.Though it was challenging as there was little time left personally but the tool and application was so new that it never became tiresome.
Enjoyable part-
The whole team was new to Matlab so all faced similar challenges. This helped in building a strong bond of helping and sharing wit
Prosfree lunches, free commutation, extra curricular activities organized, healthy enviroment
Constrainings were a little less and accessible to limited people.
Day starts at 8 am sharp at L&T, after company provided breakfast and tea. Often followed by team meeting. Fun begins -checking mails, followup calls, analyzing engineering documents, diagrams and what not.. coffee machines start at 10:30 intensifying the game, suddenly before you even realize it is lunch time (yes, canteens are free for employees, you get a meal as per the routine which is strictly vegetarian diet) 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Project life is a lot of fun if you enjoy working under pressure. After boosting your glucose levels during company sponsored Lunch, the round two starts.. Again almost completely immersed you are stirred by a bell at 3:15 p.m. Company provides hot tea. This is a time when most engineers discuss problems and solutions between different projects ,although experienced seniors and colleagues are always eager to help you with free consultation and resources. After this short break you are again at your desk immersed until 5:10 p.m. when the official work hours end but there is no limit upto what time you want to work (HVAC is turned off at 6:30 p.m. after which there is a distinct calm helping you to focus better) usually snacks arrive at around 6:10 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with hot tea. You can work at your own pace if there is no urgency after official working hours nobody will disturb you or ask you to vacate office premises. Suppliers or vendors are located worldwide so sometimes we do have teleconference with their team members.
ProsFree breakfast, lunch coffee, tea, snack and sometimes you can stay late to have free dinner too.
ConsSometimes the washrooms are dirty, no non-veg cuisines at canteen, though Saturday is half day, be prepared 6 days a week job, hard to find time out during projects for family and friends
Demanding job with a lot of responsibility but an excellent place for personal and professional growth
I was in charge of the planning department of a 400 kV overhead transmission line. My primary duty was the overall planning of the project for its successful construction and proper commissioning thereafter. This included contract revisions and essential negotiations; preparation of cost estimates and job cost reports of the project in order to maintain and/or minimize costs, by proper delegation of work in accordance with completion schedule without compromising the quality of work.
In addition to the above a typical day of work will include meetings with the client or within my team discussing weekly targets, hindrances and likely solutions.
My experience in the company in addition to teaching me the electrical, civil and managerial intricacies of working in the construction field, taught me team work, responsibility, leadership, crisis management and critical thinking while solving practical problems.
My co-workers were all very hard working and dedicated souls. I being the newest and youngest member of the team learned a lot from their years of experience on the field.
The hardest part of the job was possibly the inherent nature of our project. Transmission line being a cross country work where external factors like climate and people played a major role, predicting and planning around them had to be the toughest part. But brainstorming solutions and overcoming these challenges were also the most enjoyable parts.

Before join the LNT Dubai company,I have work experience in LNT Mumbai,In mumbai is there more systematic work was going but here in Dubai there is system but no one using it is on Management depends.Poor management! Upper Management and Corp. don't have any respect for the little people who make the company run. No sick time, personal days, or vacation unless your management. Then you get one to three weeks vacation depending on how long you've been with the company, one personal day, and you have to work an average of 40 hrs. a week to be qualified. They're very picky about the whole thing, and don't give enough hours to set you up with a possibility of that happening. I have half a notion to start a walk out.Though there is much more, I need to go to bed and get up for work tomorrow. So look for more horror stories from me and well, the rest of the rite aid work force!
