There are plenty of opportunities to advance in the company worldwide, if you know where to find it and if your manager is willing to back you up.
Although the company claims to be an equal opportunity employer, the same cannot be said at the managerial level. There is a lot of bias.
The yearly PDR is a pointless chore, where your plans and ideas go unheard or are dismissed and instead asked to focus on innovation and automation irrespective of your interests.
Your pay is based on the hours that you book on a project, which means that it's upto you to keep yourselves busy and utilised unless you have a manager who is looking out for you.
The pay is below average, annual raise isn't anything to look forward to.
The HR is the least cooperative department and have zero empathy.
I have been reviewing RCC/Structural steel drawings/design and find utmost pleasure to deliver a product which is error free and can be straightforwardly implemented at site.
Preparation of specification, drawings, reports etc was also done which were highly accredited by my seniors/owners/lenders.
Periodic construction monitoring visits was another important part of my life as i learnt how to check construction progress.
The hardest part was preparing detail engineering drawings which need to had intricate details also be prepared in a very short span of time.
My co-workers were nice, supporting and always made me learn new aspects and ways to deal situations which made me a better engineer and paved way for me to become a good manager.
look after design and construction of railway track for a length of 200km

Design of High speed turnout( 1 in 12) suitable for DFCC loading 25 Tonne axle load. Looking after construction depot activities for establishing track linking by New track machine.
The procedure followed in the company is simple, prompt and all staff are sincere in their efforts in discharging their responsibilities. The systems developed are interactive, safety oriented.
A great place to work with well defined systems, great mentors, peers and some great fun and knowledgement management initiatives
Having worked to close to decade I found almost all aspects of the organization positive. Systems are great, though at times, it felt cumbersome to manage projects through these processes, But, at the end those systems have been found to be great supportive tools.
Had load of fun with the peers and managers, every one was supportive.
Salary was good but not the best in industry compared to similar work responsibilities
ProsGrowth in technical, managerial and personal spheres
Better than a lot of Indian companies but not the best company to work. The Indian division isn’t anywhere close to the UK office , it’s supposed to be a big firm in the UK.
Graduate designation for 4years and growth is negligible. Not the place to work for a long time. Work isn’t too good either, it all depends on the lead offices.
If you’re done with all options and if this is the only MNC left, then maybe it’s fine.
ProsNo long working hours and good work culture.
ConsSalary is too low and no growth at all.

Workplace filled with eminence & prestige
Typical days start at 9 am & can go up to 6 or 7 pm.
The work here teaches one what it means to work in a MNC with prestige & dignity.
The management focuses on results & may put pressure on employees to get it done.
Co workers were always supportive & encouraging.
The hardest part of the job lies in meeting the client expectations while the enjoyable part lies in mingling with the all encouraging colleagues.
I am really thankful to Mott MacDonald for giving me opportunity/ I have worked there for 20 years. Really nice work culture & co-operative management. I was in desktop support team for Ahmedabad branch. also i have provided som any support to Domestic & International offices & sites. I learnt lots of things in IT because of my Line manager support. IN short I Mott Macdonald is career making company every employee.
MM employees do a lot of co-location work at client offices - so be advised to ask exactly where you'll be working, as the working location may have entirely different policies and facilities to those of your base office. Your working location might be a right dump, and you could be stuck there for a few years.
In my particular role, career progression and job security seems to be a bit of a joke - and that's because the company is primarily concerned with selling you to a client for maximum profit - wherever that might be - so your own skillset and competence is virtually irrelevant when it comes to being assigned to a project. If you are a young, cheap employee, you could have a long career, but don't expect to be working to your full potential. There has been a protracted action, within the APD unit, to offload the more seasoned professional Planners - especially those whom voice their concerns and expect to implement Best Practice. If they dislike you, your work will be initially removed, and then they will call you in for an informal meeting about "resources". This is usually the trigger for the redundancy process - even though there is plenty of work available.
HR will lie to you, blather or just ignore you - and they will make ludicrously contradictory statements. They claimed that I was made redundant because of my "..unique skills…" and that I was working below my Grade et al. Bizarrely, HR claimed they had presented me with "..suitable alternatives.." employment -
ProsGood working colleagues, informal environment, interesting projects.
ConsThey just want to sell you or sack you, Project management practices are 20 years behind the times, They assume everyone is phobic

I worked as a Market Research Interviewer for Mott Macdonald from October 2008 to January 2011 which was a fixed term contract. I througly enjoyed conducting face to face travel surveys which involved cold calling at households and carrying out interviews using a PDA. My colleagues and I would have regular meetings at the Mott Macdonald head office in Birmingham to update on our progress. My Co-Workers were fun to work with and we got on well within the team. Sometimes I would go out in a group of 2 or 3 to an area and we would cold call at households. This was great for raising team morale and working together to get the quota. I also lone worked in different areas where I motivated my self and got my quota. Occasionally I trained new temporary staff as I was excellant at exceeding my targets. I loved meeting people and working together as a team. My Manager was very supportive and worked to excellant standards. At times It was difficult to get the quota straightaway and handling rejection is the hardest part of the job. We also conducted travel surveys where we stopped vehicles on particular roads authorised to complete a survey. This was very interesting and fun work and I loved working within my team. The most important thing I learned in my role as a Market Research Interviewer was meeting people from all walks of life and being confident and communicating well with people at all times. I was impressed with my income as the harder I worked the more I earned
ProsTravelling to different locations, Travel expenses included
ConsWorking evening and weekends, Lone Working

Effective and good working place at Mott Mac Donald
Monday is the most expected working day because teachers are expecting you as a school supervisor to check on their competences. I have gained a vast experience when working with Mott Mac Donald, the team connection, leadership qualities, interpersonal skills, working under pressure, very quick to respond in other to mitigate challenges faced in the field of work. The management of Mott Mac Donald is very good and having comfortable working terms and conditions. However, the work place culture is encouraging and friendly. The hardest part of the Job is when you go on school visit places that are hard to reach and very challenging. Meeting with teachers with a lot experience is very comfortable and friendly. The most enjoyable part of the job is that for every Friday, we always meet in a information shearing meeting to discuss relevat issues such as the successes we faced in a week, as well as the challenges faced within the week. However, the interaction with the teachers and givng them feedback is really awesome. Making specific reference on the good aspect of teaching as well as finding areas in which they need to improve. Testing the staff of Mott Mac Donald quarterly is worth living because it allow ayou to gain more experience moving with the job.

Great people, projects, and transparency; Location and dress code could be better
The Metropark office at Mott MacDonald was a great office to work in, as it was a very friendly environment for picking up new skills and becoming acquainted with the business and engineering side of water/wastewater management. As an intern, I was able to gain valuable skills, knowledge, and connections to help me advance in my professional career path. It was also fantastic to have a voice at company meetings, and to have events outside of working hours to meet and interact with co-workers! Definitely not a running errands and getting coffee kind of internship; you will be valued for your skills and knowledge.
The main things I disliked about the job were that business casual attire was required (I just don't see much practicality in wearing ironed shirts and pants) and the local area I was working in did not have much in terms of recreational opportunities. However, I feel that these are both typical drawbacks to working in a professional/urban environment, and that Mott MacDonald is a company which will likely work to resolve these issues in the future.
ProsFriendly learning and working environment
ConsDress shirt, khakis, and a love for urban areas required
last year January 2016, I was appointed to do some raft design
of low housing in chatty 1060 (number of the 1060 units). they were 4 different houses. My line Manager gave me the responsibility of the job from the Design of the work in office up to the inspection of reinforcement steel on site, which was a very challenging work, as to all 23 Small SME constructors were unable to prepare reinforcement. but I showed them how to fix reinforcement steel, and how to read drawings. eventually I was appointed as clerk of works/ inspector of the project, that includes of inspection of the complete work from the raft foundation up to the completion of the house. During this project I learned how to handle contractors especially during our weekly technical meetings , and advising beneficiaries, presenting progress of the work on site to the client, challenges meet on site i.e ( missing connections of drainage, bursting of water pipes etc).
My co-workers were impressed with the work I did, and am profound of the it, I manage to supervise project and complete it within the speculated time.
Have been working in Mott Indonesia since 2013. First I was happy working here. My project director are very friendly and support us a a solid team.
But now the management system are very complex and failed to make staff feel secured while working here, too many staff who have contract status.
Office always renew/prolong the contract and staff always feel insecure while working, so the situation is always resign-recruit-resign-recruit-resign.
Like/dislike from manager is very crucial matter in making a staff to be permanent and staff are starting blaming each other and secure themself if the design is wrong (including manager).
By the end of the project, most of the contracted staff have been cut off with the reason "No Future Project". And also a few of permanent staff (have good attitude and good delivery in my opinion) are fired with same reason, but strangely few contracted staff to be a permanent term
The salary is not match with working load. In my previous project, I usually working until very late due to very hectic schedule.
Prosglobal working environment
Consvery poor management system
