Great place to work, good practice of profession with fun.
Since I am associted with this organization for a long time, we are more close to each other. We share the workload and help each other on various occations due to this reason we never felt the pressure most of the time during any major release.
My daily work involves both technical such as solving issues, bug-fix, develop new data models, interpret business to tend managerial roles such as interacting with business, taking part in user training. Travel to manufacturing plants to understand business process.
Schneider helped to provide good understanding of business knowledge, exposure to technologies, project management, service metrics and delivery model.
The organization provides self styled working model, flexible to work from home that gives work life balance.
The tricky part of jobs will be integrating new business to expanding global standard model; the challenge comes in understanding different cultures and there practices.
I enjoyed being in a environment where I come across different learning curves across business, I would like to learn new things frequently and try to innovate new ideas and implement. I have benefitted the organization with few ideas that were also adapted by other teams.
I have been an employee of Schneider for about 10 Months. This has been my first job and being a fresher i get to learn a multitude of things.
Starting from a typical day at work: The days are more or less uneventful. You get to learn new things, but 9-5 job can get a little mundane after a while.
What I have Learned: I have learnt quite a lot in this organization but i believe i have only touched the surface of it. Purchasing is a vast field and i am determined to learn as much as i can from it. As for things i learnt are Part & vendor development, Cost Negotiation, E-Bidding, Oracle and Ariba tool uses etc etc.
Management is quite efficient, a bit stingy on holidays and day-offs but productivity is good
Co-Workers are nice and been very helpful since me being a Fresher.
Hardest part of Job is that you work on a measly pay. If you are getting paid handsomely, you have enough motivation to work with all your efforts. Otherwise every day is feels like a survival.
Enjoyable part of the Job was when i organised a successful e-bidding reverse auction between Local and Global suppliers eventually getting 17% productivity on Annual spend.

I got my first job in this company. The company taught me many things. I was new to my so called professional life, but never felt like I am new to this culture. All credit goes to my colleagues, my boss and my friends over here.
The work atmosphere is good over here.I learnt all my practical experiences in electrical switch-gear. I am an electrical LV panel designer, which indeed is very tough job itself. That too for a new comer like me. But I was quick and learnt all the process fast and steadily.
I have a good knowledge of switch gear components like ACB, MCCB,SFU, Contactors, Switches, Lamps, Relays,Transformers, etc. I also have good hand on softwares like Promise, E3, Autocad, MS office etc.
The management here is too good say. As it is a Multinational company various standards are followed over here. Environment is taken special care off.
Rest of my knowledge is already posted in my CV.

I have been working at Schneider Electric Vadodara plant of Medium voltage switchgears plant as Project Manager for past 2 years now. I joined this company as a graduate engineer trainee and I take pride to state that this company is definitely a welcome for new people. The best thing about working here has been this that you get to work among the most complicated kind of industry since this part of Schneider works on Engineered-to-order type of projects. Every order comes with a new set of requirement from customer where you have to come up with the best possible design and solution..in short..here the product is tailor-made. Not to forget, the more challenging work is, more and more difficulties you face. Lot of work on your way with the benefit of lot of learning if you are willing to make your career proceed here.
Working in Schneider Electric is worth every minute spent there
It is an aggressive ,dynamic company for individuals who wish to grow and aim high in their career . There are many opportunities internally in the organisation to switch career paths and learn new concepts in the Power manufacturing domain
I have learnt to learn more, develop myself in all respects, undertake challenges head on,explore my own capabilites and do works that would recognise my contribution in the domain I work in.
The work culture is extremely conducive to develop individually and implement innovation and creativity in the division we are handling.
ProsLEarning and development, friendly and aggressive work culture, Great Brand name
ConsWork life balance is not very appreciated, processes are not in place, long order booking procedures, mannual reliablility of feeding information is too high than being automated
schneider electric is the best place to get your career started!
i loved every single day of my internship at schneider electric, As i got a real nice mentor. Even though she was a general manager, she was very nice and helped me out a lot.
The management was usually lenient , but when it came to safety & energy they were really strict (suits their motto 'Make energy safe, reliable, productive and green). The hardest and most enjoyable part of my job was the daily tasks i was assigned with because these tasks made me interact with all the departments of a Manufacturing Plant.
The workplace culture takes the cake for the best things ii have seen in schneider electric, as their diversity is just astonishing. Schneider electric celebrates cultural festivals of their employees. The Managers,Engineers,Supervisors and the Workers take part in these festivals.
I have much to offer in the way of diversity of experience and profession in that I had worked. Apart from technical I have had the opportunity to learn human resource policies, procedures and the protocol necessary to enforce them ethically and without liability. From my work in an SEIL office and site I have shared my organizational skills attention to detail and my ability to work with speed and accuracy. In my past and current position in SEIL, I have gained experience in research, writing reports, designing high impact Power Point presentation, administrating grants and much more.
Finally, in all the previous position I have held, I have approached them as opportunities for career advancement and discovery.

I learnt a lot in my year with Schneider as warehouse operator.
This being my first role in a warehouse environment, I had a lot to take on board and process as working in in a warehouse was an entirely different work setting to the one in the retail industry where I had been very confident and successful for the past 17 years.
I am a fast learner so i picked up on basic daily procedure and operations within the first couple of days.
I expected far more extensive training during the first couple of weeks, however due to my progress i was more than capable managing the workday on my own within the first week there.
I learn best when thrown in the deep end so this worked well for me.
The rest of the training unfolded in a natural progression throughout the year.
My two team leaders were extremely approachable and easy to communicate with making it comfortable for me to raise any questions or concerns , request further training in different areas and roles in the warehouse, and make suggestion on implementing better strategies for our working environment
A typical day at work would consist
- Coming in 15min early and preparing my work station for the day.
- Replenishment , general housekeeping , prioritising customer orders by area code ready for me to process . Shipment deadlines applied for some of the orders so they had to be sorted as first priority.
- Team meeting with team leaders before every shift
- Processing, invoicing and packing orders
ProsOccasional free lunches hosted by recruitment agencies
Used to be a great company but going down hill in the UK
Used to be a great company to work for, stable, secure, well paid, felt valued as an employee by my management and always felt like I was offering great service and support to our customers. Always something to learn, always challenging and was a fantastic place to work - I loved it!
That said, the decisions made in UK, handed down from the French ownership, during 2020-2021 are staggering and a big smack in the face to all the staff that worked hard - as key workers supporting the UK infrastructure - throughout the pandemic.
Closing down massively profitable parts of the business and no real reason given, lots quiet redundancies in many parts of the organisation going on in the background, millions of pounds of business going elsewhere, competitors gearing up to jump in to the massive hole left by Schneider in the UK market, and pretty much the whole of the UK market asking questions and trying to understand what the heck is going on.
Massive, poorly thought, ill advised and significant changes to the UK business model, no plans in place - at all - for anyone to follow, nor any pathway to map out and support the change to the new business model in any way shape or form.
Nobody seemingly taking any control, nobody being held responsible, no desire to try and put things right before it goes too far and long term damage is done, individual business units being left to fend for themselves, to make sense of it all and to try and make the entire sorry mess work in some way,
ProsHybrid working, good benefits, career progression, good salary (at the right level) supportive colleagues, generally nice people, good holiday allowance, shut down over Christmas plus other fringe benefits expected or a large employer
ConsPoor senior out of country management, Seemingly hidden agendas, High level management not taking responsibility, French ownership imposing their will on the UK market, Over inflated perception of Schneider UK & loss of focus, Only interested in appeasing shareholders/share price, Business units don't work together, focus on standard globalised solutions, no thought to local customer requirements, Company withdrawing from key communication and company history.

Overall... An okay place to work in, but management could be better.
When I first started working at Schneider Electric I was excited to be able to work as a technician first before becoming an engineer because I wanted to gain job experience and know what it was like working as a technician. In the later months that followed, I would sometimes get comments from my supervisor and co-workers about my work performance that did not really sit well with me. Comments like, how slow I am in wiring a panel or how I am not applying myself hard enough in what I am doing.
The truth is, yes I was I was a bit slow when it came to doing my job, but I was always giving it my best in whatever I did and always got the job done right. Being a technician was not my first choice, and I could understand why I did not belong there, but I still gained some useful knowledge like wiring and hand tools.
I also networked with some of the engineers there at the plant that I was working in, but when I gave my resume to the engineering trainer, he did not reply to me with feedback or even bother talking to me from there on forward. I wanted to believe that there was a chance for advancement in Schneider but I was a bit skeptical about it.
The management is in major need of improvement. One of the supervisors that I worked with was okay but there were a few minor occurrences that put him the category as being an okay supervisor.
The toughest part of the job was being able to wire the component panels and switch gear. My supervisors and leads would often tell me to hur

Schneider has accumulated many companies with related product and services lines to present a unified green image and flesh out subsidiary product lines. The IT business unit is an outgrowth of the APC company acquired by Schneider in 2007. APC is a very young culture but was marketing heavy and had a very young culture. Other Schneider business units are very, very old school industrial sales organizations-- contractor focused. Blend them with the structure of a $30 Billion corporation and you have process, control and cultural issues. Schneider's corporate initiated programs to drive cross -bu cohesiveness and trust fall flat.
The IT Business unit is still functioning like a startup but is driving for efficiency to match the corporate parent. This means key support structures have been trimmed to the bone, and all organizations are subject to restructuring. Many functions have been outsourced and growth paths are being restricted. The sales talent development process is much the same as it has been since mid 90s, relying on recent graduates primarily from schools on east coast, which has developed a less diverse, clubby atmosphere, and keeps the salary expectations low.
The products offered by Schneider are good to great. Efficiency drives in the IT business unit have caused longer lead times and failures in key components recently, and the competitive functional advantage of the primary product lines have been matched by the competition.

Managed to score a job there via contract to hire. The pay is good, there are plenty of hours to work if needed and the benefits I was to receive once hired were substantial.
However, the job was very detail oriented and required very specific standards. This, in and of itself, isn't a bad thing, but what had happened to me was rather surprising.
I had worked hard to try and learn a lot of the work I was assigned on my own. I was hardly trained and ultimately left to my own devices. Personally, it was a bit overwhelming, but I was told by multiple employees and managers that it was nothing to worry about and that my first few assignments will take time to learn and finish.
I finally finished my first assignment and had it approved by my supervisor, then moved on to the next one. The entire time I had been working on it, I was not spoken to once about my work ethic, quality, or anything like that. As a matter of fact, when I inquired about my performance myself, I was told that I was doing fine and that even if I wasn't the company had plenty of other positions I could fill that fit me as a person.
I was relieved. It was good to know that I had job security.
I had called my contractor later that week to resolve a mispunch on the time clock. I wasn't getting paid for the time I had been there, so I wanted to sort it out.
Things happen, no big deal.
He told me that my missing hours will be added to my next paycheck
Oh and by the way I was fired.

'This would be a great job if it wasn't for the office'
Jobs are supposed to be programmed 48 Hrs in advance but in too many cases a job that has been booked for a fortnight is not confirmed and then the funs starts. Trying to schedule an engineer for a job in 24 Hours without getting all the paperwork, Method Statement, Risk assessment lined up. All too often that important snippet of information that the customer wants you to know, doesn't get passed on to the engineer attending site. Onsite conditions can be anything from a carpeted office to a Datacentre Plant Room with a hurricane cooling the UPS's down. Management insist on everyone following Health and Safety rules but put the Budget for Health and Safety equipment with the Bosses' PA who hasn't got the first idea what site conditions are like. You must wear the Safety equipment you are given even if it does not fit or is not fit for purpose. It took 20 years with the company to get a 'Dead Tester' and some safety padlocks.
As FSE's we deal with this because the kit is cutting edge and we don't (as a rule) let the customer down.
The hardest part of the job is knowing you have a 2 hour drive down the Motorway to get home where you could do the paperwork in comfort when you are supposed to stay on site so that you can book the correct time to the job(s). Very little allowance is made for the number of UPS on site and the company is only really interested in Datacentres with lots of parallel machines these days. Good company to work for but very sales focused and no work life balance
Decent company with good perks but it comes at a cost.
I was working a Field Engineer on BMS systems which was a great job but very demanding and rewarding but the only drawback was I had to sell to the customers circa of 30K a year in new products and upgrades This was performance based so if I was unable to reach my targets, then my performance/income would be affected.
Great if your customer had the money to spend but more often than not they didn't. Personally I found it difficult to reach my targets due to the amount of extra work that was required to achieve this.
I know of some engineers in my team that were selling upgrades on perfectly working equipment, claiming that they were no longer maintainable because a) they didn't have the experience/Knowledge to maintain the old equipment and b) to reach their sales targets.
Work life balance was a joke, in some instances I was expected to drive 3 hours to a job, work a 7.5 hours shift and 3 hours drive home. Then I had to compile a report with opportunities for quotes, this would take around an hour depending on the content of your findings. So in all your working a 13-14 hour day. There is 2 hours a day you have to give for travelling, so you only got paid for 11. That's 10 hours a week unpaid! I was even told to use my lunch hour to respond to emails etc.. Um that's not exactly a lunch break is it?!
Line manager was pushy and was only concerned with sales targets rather than the engineering. If
