I
A good place to learn and prove oneself for an engineering professional
My each day is joyous at work. I've learned a lot in my field of work professionally and personally as the guidance I use to get from my senior staffs are really commendable. Management wise, my company stays far ahead as it is headed by a pack of visionaries and dedicated personnels. Another factor that has to be highlighted is the support and helps offered by my peers, we are intended to grow together. Many times I've passed through vigorous mental strains due to immense pressures and tight time schedules, but all of these had devised me as a fit tool for the job I do. Even though I had undergone pressurised situations many times in my company, finally when it comes to end results, there is nothing joyful in professional life as an opportunity to witness what we did meeting the designed outputs, which to me, marks my success and meaning of my existence.
ProsFree lunch, tea, snacks, uniforms, gifts...
ConsLong hours, social media and mobile phone prohibited at work
A typical day work used to be like school. You go to work in uniforms, with strict timings. All the breaks were time calculated since it was a typical factory environment.
Punctuality and patience are two important things I learned which made life little easy.
Mangement was ok and sometimes tough you can say.
Hardest part of the job was trying to learning everything through books and benchmarking because very few of us were allowed for internet access and no phones allowed.
The most enjoyable part of work was team involvement due to absence of phone and internets in work place conversation with team mates were more interactive and attentive which was fun.
ProsAllowed to learn by making mistakes without making you feel guilty about it
Consno breaks, short lunch times, no recreation time, less fun activities
Everyday has something to do either in terms of daily work management or strategic. Not a day goes doing nothing and boring. This is bcos one gets to do so many things beyond the JD that there is constant expansion of knowledge and skills happening every day.
I have learnt managing stakeholders, positioning training solutions, enhancing people performance, positioning projects and applying learning.
Hardest part of the job is to make learning a PULL and not a PUSH in the organization by consistent and strong selling the need.
Most enjoyable part of my job is delivering programs and helping people enhance their productivity at work.
ProsLearning, Empowerment, Analysis, Work Life Balance
TVS Motor Company believes in Trust Value and Service and extends its best to the employees. Work hours and work life balance differs from department to department as the factory employees have fixed working hours while the sales, marketing, business planning and communication department may have to put in hard working hours as per job requirement. There are ample opportunities to learn and grow in the latter departments and it is upto the individual to identify these. You will get an opportunity to work with some of the best minds in the country. The thought process of TQM is rampant through the company making it synonymous with high quality. Sometimes this may seem stringent and old school when compared to the new emerging workplaces.
It is a challenging one to plan for production as per the requirement & overcoming the needs & carry on the production without any idle time.
I learned how to plan quick based on the requirement & act according to the need very quickly. this helped me in developing my decision making in all aspects.
Management helps us a lot in implementing new ideas for the new project engineering for the establishing the new engine assembly for the BMW project. i would like to thank the management for giving this opportunity.
