TCS is part of the Tata Group of companies, and as such, carries the burden of a formidable reputation that it has to continue living up to. The greatest Indian IT company ever - simply put. When we were growing up, we used to hear great stories about the opportunities that a career with TCS would throw up, and how the company had so many foreign (non-Indian) locations to which an employee could travel to etc. Lesser workforce, more quality, more benefits, greater employee retention -this cycle goes hand in hand. But ever since it has decided to challenge the Indian Railways in terms of employee strength, less has become more and vice-versa. Work conditions are very good, technical/business communication/miscellaneous trainings imparted to new inductees are of the highest order, colleagues very helpful, seniors unassuming and seldom to throw their weight around, and best part that there is a great ease of accessibility towards middle/senior management. But, there is a very big emphasis on experience and experienced employees. True, that experienced and loyal employees deserve to receive the best from a company, but there are no provisions to deal with above average/intelligent/capable freshers/less experienced people who join the company, and may actually be better or have achieved more than people more experienced than them. Everyone is treated at par, regardless of what he/she might have achieved, delivered etc. There is no extra motivation to 'stand out in a crowd', so to

Lots of projects and almost all the technologies. Good culture, ethics, job security
1. Working in such a big MNC means one's general work experience can vary from project to project as timings, work ease, technologies and everything else related to one's work will differ.
2. I was lucky to get opportunity in Financial Services IOU (Insurance domain). I have been involved in TCS BANCS which is a company product with out clients being top insurance providers across the world.
Got a great team with good leaders who guided me to learn and develop my skills.
3. I am also happy that TCS provided Digital Capability Assessment, which was a combination of exams and interviews to prove one's merit and thus increase one's compensation.
Although the assessments had their flaws with system failure during coding assessments too common and very inconsistent interview patterns across the board, it was still an opportunity for junior employees to increase their compensation benefits.
4. The health insurance provided by TCS in association with New India Insurance with Medibuddy acting as 3rd party is one of the best offered in corporate world.
5. Job security is really paramount here. If you do your job and have strived to become an important part of your respective work, you needn't fear about losing job ever.
6. Consistent pay under every circumstances. Even during COVID infected world and uncertain circumstances, we always received our salary on time. TCS had announced that there would be no lay offs whatsoever due to covid. Only variable pay for senior employees had

An experience to cherish both professionally and personally. Being my first stint with an MNC learned a lot.
My day starts with a detailed look at the inbox, which is followed by prioritizing the work to do by EOD, along with the discussion among teammates for any updates/changes in the day's deliverables.
Once all done i start my work, sharing it and updating the trackers at the end of each task completed. In b/w i reach out to stake holders in the project/task to apprise them of any abrupt deviations in the expected results and hold a discussion to resolve the same.
Before leaving for the day, I update the time-sheets/project trackers, checklists used for the day's task, and make reminders for the tasks on hold to be completed by next day.
During my tenure, i learned a lot right from understanding the tools used in data analysis, the methods followed, how to prioritize and deliver results before deadlines under pressure and producing quality deliverables while multitasking.
The managers let us be and do not interfere much in the work. Most of my interaction is with the onshore team.
I have a very cordial relation with my coworkers. We work together and share & document best practices. This way each one acts as a potential backup for another, thereby increasing efficiency and ensuring business continuity.
As such there is nothing like too tough about the job, but once in a while we have to adjust our work schedules in line with the onshore team due to work exigencies. But i take this in good spirit and understand that this is part and parcel of the game. [when the servers were
Prosflexible timings, work completed was more valued than time spent in office.
Consnot a great infrastructure. too much restrictions in personal space.
Being just a fresher out of my engineering care free life, TCS taught me to be responsible and understand that each decision I took in my work life made a difference.
A typical day would be considered as reporting to office by 9.30 a.m (Indian Standard Time) and working until all the agenda for the day was cleared off. It would be challenging and pushing ourselves to do a little better than we did the day before (even it meant the difference to be minute). It would start off as a conference call with the onsite team discussing the updates and chalking out the agenda for the day. Then managing my juniors to oversee their learning process and prepare them to be more efficient. Along with my individual project management and testing the quality of codes also mapping the client and functionality requirement at the same time.
Being a part of a huge team allows you to learn patience and appreciate participation of every single member of the team. Every person was responsible to achieve the bigger goal which was our clients satisfaction. And working together to deliver that sometimes was frustration and difficult but again over the time it teaches you to be more effective.
To me the hardest part of the job was the stress that came with it. Since we were the representatives of our organization to our clients we had to absolutely make sure we reach the expectations of the clients. Achieving this was the most trickiest part of the job since it is not the single man job. To co-
Tata has a company tagline of “Expect Certainty”. And if you seek a job here, and bless your heart if you get it, you will certainly be able to expect a lot of disappointments, every step of the way. You may or may not interview with someone that speaks English clearly enough to be understood, as the company is based in India and has sent many people here to run the business; though if you do get one of them, be thankful, they’re among the nicest people you’ll meet there. Their American counterparts are uncaring and merciless on a good day. On a bad one they’re vindictive and will micromanage you into oblivion.
You may be told you’ll work in IT and that the company does IT consulting. What you’ll actually do is answer a phone for a third party company. Your background check will take far longer than it should. They will waste your time as much as possible until they eventually get you a start date. You should expect that date to be pushed back at least once and keep some source of income going until you’ve actually sat through a first day of orientation. Otherwise, you may go a month or more after you’ve given two weeks notice at your previous employer before you start, let alone waiting until the next pay cycle to get paid, assuming they don’t mess up your payroll. And that’s not entirely from personal experience, no, most of my colleagues have gone through the same thing.
The pay is can be very good. Provided they pay you what they pay everyone else. If they think you’r

On a cold sunny Monday got a call on desk @ sharp 9:10 am, that one High profile Business Customer is very upset and angry as he is not able to suspend his connection, as System is reflecting due amount nearly double of his last bill (which had some wrong charges and had been adjusted after complaint).
Business Management has escalated this immediately to IT Directors and now this incident is been directly tracked by IT VP. So have to solve immediately, and need to send status in every 15 mins to update on the progress.
Firstly it was not known that the account had been adjusted & we were not able to identify any problem on any sample account, and not able to logically conclude how bill amount doubled. then we logged in to production system and found a huge amount of adjustment due to wrong charge.
After a tedious analysis it was found that the wrong charge that was present in users last bill has been adjusted, but in the front end View (validation added last release System change) instead of deducting the un-billed adjustment System is adding the value with last bill amount, which is going way beyond User's Credit limit and system is not allowing to suspend until a minimum amount of payment, even though He actually does not need to pay the amount as the charge has been adjusted.
It was not a good day, just after a production deployment, work spaces are not updated with current production code, came office after last night's hectic major release deployment more over weath
Working here was like working in a slaughterhouse. You are waiting to be butchered by the Supervisor when you make a minor mistake. You don't get recognized for the good things you do on the job; you get criticized for the bad things that happen. Bounced around from supervisor to supervisor due to the fact that they couldn't get a supervisor hired for my area (the state I live in). You are expected to put your JOB first, instead of your family (such as an emergency arises, or you have other things going on that do require immediate attention).
Typical day at work- Get on the company provided computer, get all programs up and running and immediately jump onto the phones to take calls. God forbid you have a customer that just wants to cuss you out or talk to you like a dog (you are expected to take it and diffuse the situation). You aren't allowed to let customers speak to Team Lead's or to any supervisor because they tell you in training, that you are to act as the if the supervisor is on another call, when they clearly won't be because they don't take calls since they are "higher ups". You are expected to do an escalation email and cross your fingers and toes and hope to God that the supervisor will call them back (99% of the time that doesn't happen, a Team Lead will call the customer back acting as a supervisor).
Management- This was one of the biggest jokes, it is literally non-existent when it comes to needing help with something or needing to let them know that "So a
