Exceptional place to work and grow, I thank VMware for my career growth
VMware is an excellent place to grow in your career and learn new technologies, domains, and industries. The company mainly focuses on enterprise products, which can provide a challenging and exciting environment to work in.
One of the standout features of working at VMware is the ease of changing teams, which is encouraged by management. This provides employees with the opportunity to explore different areas of the company and develop new skills. The company also promotes ease of changing roles based on competitiveness, which means that if you have the skills and are willing to put in the effort, you will get the opportunity. For example, moving from engineering to product management is possible.
The compensation at VMware is on par with other good tech companies, and there are additional benefits such as bonuses, RSU stocks, and ESPP options. This demonstrates that the company values its employees and wants to ensure that they are well compensated for their hard work.
Overall, working at VMware is a great experience, and many employees are grateful for the opportunities and growth that they have experienced there. If you are looking for a challenging and rewarding workplace with opportunities for growth, VMware is a great option to consider.

Work with Engineering team during Beta phase of the product to provide recommendations regarding product functionality, features and scope of improvement.
Learning curve at VMware is typically 90%. There is a learning in every activity of the day. The most challenging job that I have ever come across in my career. Learning includes VCD, vCAC{vCloud Automation}, VSA, VCNS suite apart from Core vCenter and ESXi products. Other learnings includes Time management & handling extremely stressed out situations
Management is very poor. Most managers don't know to handle pressure. Micro monitoring. Management needs be more mature.
Coworkers are mature, understanding and supportive.Unfortunately Senior Eng and Escalation Engineers show too much attitude.
Handle Calls, Email, Log Analysis all at the same time. Typically job requires you to do multiple multi tasking.

I would like to appreciate the opportunity provided by the company to be a part of the workforce and perform the assigned role in the financial Department (Account Receivables team) as a collections analyst for APAC. It was a challenging opportunity for me to prove myself in the role. I have learnt how to stream line and prioritize big value customers & attend to the work needs of them to achieve bigger targets. Opportunity was given to work under high pressure environment. The management helped me gain more confidence in the work and also in self ability to achieve higher platform. The hardest part of the job was co-workers management and prioritising invoices & sticking to the task of the planned schedule. The enjoyable part is when the company was able to recognize my efforts & achievements and reward me with incentives, certificates and awards acknowledging my achievements.
• Received customer accolades consistently for maintaining high degree of accuracy on the assigned task.
• Awarded as best performer award.
• General council member for I – Share (an initiative to share contextual knowledge among peers) and recognized in the monthly newsletter as a best initiator

• Ensured department meets CHARISMA (Global Operating Model to drive consistency across the GBS delivery centers through Standard Processes and Methodology) framework guideline.
• One of the key member in driving employee recognition programs

We are the best team in VMware Globally, we have received many accolades and continue to do so.
We have a lot of fun everyday while learning and the Management is the best part. There is so much of learning on a day to day basis that we do not know how time goes by.
We have learnt Mac OS X, Linux, and much more to help us get through any kind of issues that we face on a given day at work.
This is one of the best places that I have worked in, and would love to see the response or match for VMware.
ProsFree food, free transport, free dinner sessions every month, free sponsors for travel and medical facilities, and free team outings periodically.
A typical day at work would include troubleshooting various issues that occur with VMware products for enterprise customers and partners. Learned about virtualization technology and its concept and learned about the working of VMware's core products, ESXI and Vcenter server. The management, in my opinion was the best thing about VMware. Operations were handled very well keeping in my mind the interests of all the employees.
My co-workers were all very helpful, and supportive and were always there when you most needed them.
The hardest part of the job was to manage time, meet deadlines by the minute and try to keep all the customers happy. The most enjoyable part of the job was that there was always something new to learn every single day.
love their work environment, and they are calm, stress-free and happy all day long.

I have been with VMware for the past two and half years and I have had wonderful time learning and applying my knowledge. I have been given enough opportunity to skill myself in the Cloud technologies and improved my softskill. I have been given enough exposure to communicate directly with Customer and present VMware solutions from overseas. All in all good people and good culture
ProsGood pay, good people, good facilities

Great place working with software engineers and changing environment
Check numerous incoming emails, schedule daily work and prioritize accordingly, meet with supervisor, attend meetings to take notes, publish notes according to manager's needs; highlight action items with time commitments, answer calls, filing, work on projects outstanding, schedule meetings for the managers, check manager's emails and print out as needed, create project files for follow-up.
What I learned was to be self-motivated and independent worker according to the needs of management and projects. Keep ongoing priorities log for reporting purposes.
A highly multi-tiered management structure with a moving organization according to business changes and needs. It was necessary to have great co-worker communication and participation skills at all times. The most difficult part of this job was the amount of walking to be done between buildings while the business changed and grew rapidly. There were over eight other offices spread out on several city blocks until the campus was consolidated. We used golf carts and bicycles to make the time more convenient into one large campus. It was necessary to attend all meetings and obtain instructions and information from your manager. There were company-wide software tools to learn, that didn't always parallel or match standard industry practice but mostly useful to the company. We produced many PowerPoint organization charts for the continuous change and growth especially at meetings large or small.
I worked diligently to me
ProsHealthy snacks, lunches, gym program, Bike-to-Work days, bring children to work days. Beautiful campus.
ConsLong and stressful hours, constant shifting priorities, off shore campuses with time zone challenges, long commuter hours and had ride share options

Excellent peer coworkers, management of office can be a bit bureaucratic
Storage engineer for 3 1/2 years. Best thing I can say is that there will be almost zero office politics and backbiting with your peers. Its a tremendously collaborative environment with some unbelievably smart people at your disposal. You will learn a lot about VMware environment management, which will help you a lot for future positions. Its also a very comfortably casual environment. I thoroughly enjoyed going to work everyday in a t shirt and shorts.
One of the biggest issues I had was inter-office politics. You'll find yourself constantly battling the offices in Cork and Bangalore over their tossing you their work, and your often inability to do anything but eat it. Also, while the majority of direct managers are really good people, every so often they hire someone who is a complete misfit for corporate culture, and that can make your day miserable. I quit because of my direct manager, who was so by the book, he could have been replaced with a small shell script. When I needed him to back me, I could count on him to completely disappoint me. Another major management issue I had is because its a rather large company with many levels of management, often the decisions made by high-up senior management are more about bean counting and theory, but its effects on the actual people are horrendous. We sometimes have to rely on tools for major parts of our business (case management system run through Salesforce, a recent change to our KB system that was completely
ProsAmazing peer coworkers, comfortably casual, free snacks/soda, no work when you're not on the clock
ConsSometimes horrendous managers, bureaucracy and bean counting can override effective work decisions

Fun, Friendly environment to work in, great corporate culture and employees
Typical day will be going to your own office cubicle, checking voice-mails, logging into workstation and work with new client support tickets, follow-up on existing support tickets by email or by phone with news of issue resolution or work still in progress.
I learned to manage time effectively, working as a team together, chairing (hosting) team meetings, learned about the company's many software products, learned how to work the internal web portal systems and internal corporate operations, such as how product sales and distribution work and also up-selling support contracts.
I had 3 different managements during the course of my employment and all were excellent to me and treated me well, as well as helped me a lot during my tenure.
All my former co-workers were excellent, energetic, and outgoing people I've ever known. We always liked to help each other many times. I have formed lasting friendships with many of them and I still keep in touch with them today.
Hardest part was when complete system migrations happen and our entire processes, or method of doing work change such as corporate business changes and system changes. Old system, and interfaces phased out and change over to new. Usually, it takes a month to get used to the new changes.
Most enjoyable part of the job for me is always looking forward to the customer's satisfaction everyday when their issue was resolved by me. Also their corporate culture was a great experience, such as charitable e
ProsFree snacks and drinks, flexible 24/7 shifts to choose.
ConsUnpredictable departments restructuring can happen.
Most of my day is done in our systems and through email working with my customers - new hires, hiring managers, staffing, HRIS.
VMware focuses on best practice implementation and process documentation; you must be able to work with a constant changing environment and policies/procedures that can change week to week.
Management is not held accountable nor do they share job impacting information.
My team is a dedicated team - dedicated to teamwork, positive environment, collaboration and customer service and satisfaction.
The hardest part of the job is working 11 hour days and not being recognized for hard work. Promotions are limited to upper management and there is little room for development and growth. Also, performance review is not directly correlated to merit increase. You can have an almost perfect review with no merit increase to show for it.
The thing i enjoy the most at VMware is the collaborative environment, the dedication to the community. VMware gives employees 40 hours a year of PTO that is for community service and philanthropy and they highly encourage employees to use this time off to get out and serve. Also, the ability to work from home or work remotely and have a flexible schedule makes VMware highly desirable. Lastly, i work on a rockstar team; i enjoy coming in to see my team and the camaraderie.
ProsBenefits, Work/Life Balance
ConsSalary, Lack of opportunity for growth, management

VMware is like a true extension of High School/College
VMWare is a great place to work on site. However, some will feel this place is really over the top "liberal" from the CEO to your Direct Managers. And it's been like this for the past 6 years. It has taken VMWare years to recognize Martin Luther King, Juneteenth & Veterans Day. This primarily due to C Level or World events. VMware really don't like to be involved in World Events. But in the past 4 years, they are trying to catch up. You will get and see many Management Levels in a political stance within Vmware. Not your world Politics. But internal politics.
There are many people with great ideas and majority of the management will take those ideas as their own and claim it as their own with no credit to actual owner. Many of these managements all have ego's that they need to check at the door. Growth, are for those who really brown nose within their "click" based on popularity. Then there are some who gets hired or promoted and yet still have no idea to manage people or the product/position they were hired for. Also watchout for the internal survey's. Especially the "skills" survey. IF you ever get one. Just lie about it. It's a gauge for higher management to indicate "lay off markers".
ProsHalloween Concerts
ConsOverall Management Internal Politics
