Challenging workplace with intellectual people around you.
*A Typical day at work- Once you entered the office, you first quickly review yesterdays progress followed by a short duration meeting with different contractors/service providers for today's work planning & safety hazards & risk mitigation. Afterwards, a quick visit to site for field activities, work quality & safety review, followed by hands on with typical project work in coordination with technology providers. I evening small talk about next days/ weeks planning. Also, active participation in weekly progress reports/meeting & planning with higher levels & lower levels together & separately. * Learning- Electrical Project Implementation, Project management, planning & quality checks, Project safety procedures. *Management- Dealing with more than 5 companies for smooth coordination among the for timely project delivery, Cost consciousness during project implementation, Project deployment, Project timelines. *Co-workers- Good coordination with co-workers, help them when they are in need of assistance & suggestions. Coworkers are the key to motivation in workplace. *The hardest part of the job: Timely completion of project activities as per project schedule with limited resources( mostly shared resources). *The most enjoyable part of the Job- meeting people from around the globe & learn new technologies consequently making the world a better place to live.

Place with wide learning scope
1. Vedanta is a place where one gets huge opportunity and responsibilities. The role itself is a very important and crucial role as we are the face of the organisation in front of the external stakeholders. 2. The learning curve has very steep for me given that the other team members in my team had much more experience than me. It was a new industry for me and I had to learn about the various business verticals and come up the curve quick to represent the organisation externally. 3. The senior management is very closely involved in the Investor Relations team and that has helped me learn about the organisation from their perspective. 4. I enjoy the role and have been very passionate about it. I feel it offers me the right mix of both the functions that I like - finance and marketing. I especially enjoy engaging and networking externally with investors and analysts and help them understand the business better 5. The work culture is very open in terms of interacting with the CEO, CFO and promoters on a regular basis 6. The challenge at the job is the dynamic nature of the business and the constant updates I need to keep myself aware of and explain to external stakeholders
ProsProximity to senior management and external facing function

Since I Joined
Since I was appointed to the manager position last year, there has been a sharp increase in sales (collection)—particularly over the last 2-3 years. Branch performance has dripped down to Negative, and we’ve met segment goals in each sections from marketing to Training and slow but steady reached to positive, which is the most difficult part. These statistics are all the result of a personalization strategy I have brought to this centre. We’re not just giving training to students but also making them to compete in today's IT world. And, ultimately, we’re were doing good after which we introduce to update employee training, which boost our performance as a team. Another change I implemented was the table talk session. which gave employee to share every problem and leads to better work environment.
ProsLots of challenges Which upgrades my skills
ConsLow Salary

General Manager | Panaji, Goa | 21 Jun 2015
The day starts with team meetings and review of jobs in hand and the priorities of the current day. Further, meetings are held with other HOD's for resolution of issues or any bottlenecks being faced. Go through various reports and returns of the previous day. Visit a site and check security arrangements and alertness. Meet the officials at site to know if they have any concerns with regard to security. The hardest part of the job is when the team has to deliver without adequate resources in hand. The most enjoyable part of the job is when employees, seniors and stakeholders appreciate the team.
ProsFreedom to implement innovative ideas. Good work environment and openness.
ConsPoor business vision of management. Squeeze in capital spend.

It gave me the opportunity to undertake additional training so as to be able to work effectively.Had been sent to visit different smelters across the globe to understand & learn the practices, process being followed. When my employer introduced a new Safety management system which used Access they gave me the opportunity to undertake additional training so as to be able to work effectively with this.

Challenging but enjoyable environment
A typical day at work for me is to start at 7:30 in the morning. I find out from shiftboss what work is required for the day. Prepare plans for the day then head underground to complete tasks. These tasks would be to carry out hand held laser scanning of the underground mining areas for production of plans, and for planning purposes. Other underground tasks include setting out for mining teams. Remote laser scanning of voids are also carried out. 3d models are produced of the mine and plans are produced from these models. On a monthly basis I produce the monthly production report. I have learned a lot from a talented mine technical team of engineers. I have gained great experience with regard to laser scanning, 3d modelling and operation of total stations.
