A CNC EDM Sparking Machine Operator requires a high school diploma/ITI in
mechanical/tool & die making, plus 2–5 years of experience in tool rooms. Key skills
include reading technical blueprints, setting up electrode/workpieces, adjusting spark
parameters, and using precision measuring tools for high-accuracy work.
Key Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma, ITI (Tool & Die/Machinist), or Diploma in
Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Generally 2–3 years of hands-on experience in EDM Sinker or
Wire Cut operations, particularly in a tool room environment.
- Technical Training: Certification in CNC programming or EDM machining is
highly preferred.
Essential Technical Skills
- Blueprint Reading: Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings,
blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Machine Setup: Ability to accurately set up workpieces, align electrodes
(sparking/die sinking), and configure CNC controllers.
- Parameter Adjustment: Knowledge of EDM processes, including setting
spark voltage, amperage, pulse duration, and managing dielectric fluids.
- Precision Measurement: Proficient with micrometer, vernier callipers, and
height gauges to check for tolerance accuracy (parallelism, surface finish).
- Troubleshooting: Ability to identify and resolve machine issues, prevent wire
breakage, or adjust for surface imperfections.
Physical & Soft Skills
- Attention to Detail: High precision in handling delicate components and
ensuring precise EDM erosion.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift moderately heavy
parts (up to 70 pounds).
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to address issues during the
machining process
