About the new team
Business Intelligence is a team created to add value to the business. The desired outcome of this team is to create operational efficiency through access to real time data enabling individuals to most effectively perform their job functions.
The main area of focus of the BI team is the analysis of historical data from multiple sources enabling informed decision making as well as problem identification and resolution.The team will then relate to the exploration of historical data from many source systems through statistical analysis, quantitative analysis, data mining, predictive modelling and other technologies and techniques to identify trends and understand the information that can drive business change and support sustained successful business practices.
Another important expectation is to translate technical data into non-technical data, making it accessible for the non-tech teams, facilitating and speeding up the decision making process.
We have decided that the current resources that are focused on analytics and research will be put together and led by a BI leader.
The Business Intelligence Team Lead will lead a team of different functions to execute a vision for the delivery of information, analytics platforms and BI solutions to the business's key stakeholders, including internal staff and partners. This position will be responsible for driving the business differentiation on information and analytics, and will support requirements for data and research on existing products and markets.
Manage, coach and develop a brand new team
Develop and support production reporting systems.
Create, produce and present accurate and timely KPIs, and statistics for internal and external clients.
Produce ad hoc reports / analysis.
Perform business analysis: starting with business objectives from non-technical internal or external clients, developing reports / charts, and final presentations or reports providing business highlights and benefits.
Identify, implement and manage suitable business intelligence software to support 4 lines of business and top level.
A degree in computer science, mathematics, information management, or a related field is required.
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related area, during which both professional and management capabilities have been clearly demonstrated.
Data warehousing, data warehouse design, and data warehouse implementation : As BI Team Lead, you need to have the skills to assess, manage, and optimize the design and delivery of data warehousing. Strong conceptual knowledge of data warehousing, BI systems and processes, and ETL (extract, transform, load). You will prioritize requirements for developing the data warehouse.
Data modeling and process modeling: You need to be experienced in managing large data sets of multiple sources or managing the design, development and implementation of an information system. You will develop BI applications and data models, manage and mentor the development of data modeling in the enterprise, or design, develop, and document the data model, associated metrics, and information delivery model.
Knowledge of SQL Server
Knowledge of ETL: You need to oversee and ensure effective data flow and automated, scheduled ETL processes, or streamline them to make them more efficient.
BI implementation: The BI Lead must define, implement, and oversee the daily management of the BI technologies that are used, in addition to evaluating whether critical functionality, data governance, and other KPIs are achieved and maintained. When these levels are suboptimal, the BI Lead would need to evaluate new technologies and assess how to improve.
Strategic ability: You are able to craft a compelling vision, and then carry it out in a well-developed strategy
Leadership capabilities and experience. This will involve leading the way in implementing and delivering effective BI solutions and coaching a newly formed team on the pros and cons of different types of analytics, data modeling and providing mentorship on extrapolating and examining insights from large data sets. It also entails providing thought leadership to stakeholders in determining which BI solutions will enable the group to achieve defined business objectives, or an ability to influence the organization positively.
Communication skills: Presenting information effectively to management/executives, conveying technical information to non-technical audiences, and communicating needs with leadership or other stakeholders

Ability to build relationships: A crucial part of the job involves interacting with stakeholders and teams both externally and internally. You will be able to build cross-functional bridges to communicate and carry out the vision and strategy, and you will be capable of identifying areas of opportunity and partnership.
