Role Overview
We are looking for a Backend Intern who is passionate about building scalable systems and solving real-world problems through technology. As part of the technology team, you will work closely with experienced engineers to develop and maintain the backend infrastructure powering SaveSage's products.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining backend services and APIs.
- Build and integrate RESTful APIs to support web and mobile applications.
- Work with databases to design efficient schemas and optimize queries.
- Collaborate with frontend, product, and design teams to implement new features.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Debug issues, troubleshoot production problems, and improve application performance.
- Implement security and data protection best practices, especially for financial data.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering processes.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go.
- Understanding of REST APIs and backend architecture principles.
- Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
- Knowledge of Git and version control workflows.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Eagerness to learn and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
Good to Have
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Understanding of authentication mechanisms such as JWT and OAuth.
- Interest in the fintech domain and building secure, user-centric products.
