JUNIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Full-Time · On-site
Kochi,Kerala
Department: Mechanical Engineering
Reports To: Senior Mechanical Engineer
Experience: 0–2 years (fresh graduates with strong academic projects welcome)
Location: On-site
Role Overview
The Junior Mechanical Engineer will support the Senior Mechanical Engineer across all design, development, and analysis workstreams for our flagship product. This is a high-growth role — you will gain hands-on experience in industrial design, mechanism development, full-product 3D modelling, and structural simulation within a real-world engineering programme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in creating and refining 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings for sub-assemblies and individual components.
- Support industrial design work: model form concepts, surface refinements, and ergonomic studies under senior guidance.
- Design and iterate sub-components for core mechanical modules — mounts, couplings, housings, and moving assemblies.
- Contribute to FEA and stress analysis studies: mesh preparation, boundary condition setup, result post-processing, and report drafting.
- Maintain accurate BOM, revision history, and drawing releases in the team's PDM/PLM system.
- Source components and materials; liaise with suppliers and vendors for quotations and samples.
- Support prototype builds and testing activities — assembly, documentation, and iteration.
- Research standards, materials, and competitor products to inform design decisions.
Required Qualifications
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (final year students nearing graduation may be considered for an immediate start).
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD — SolidWorks or equivalent; ability to model and modify part and assembly files.
- Basic understanding of engineering mechanics, strength of materials, and machine design principles.
- Exposure to FEA tools (academic or professional) — SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS, or similar.
- Attention to detail in dimensioning, tolerancing, and engineering drawing standards.
- Eagerness to learn, willingness to take on hands-on workshop tasks, and ability to work in a fast-paced team.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Academic or personal projects involving robotics, mechatronics, or product development.
- Familiarity with GD&T
- Experience with rapid prototyping methods — FDM 3D printing, laser cutting, or CNC routing.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and DFM principles.
- Any exposure to physical testing or lab work in a mechanical context.
What You'll Gain
- Direct mentorship from experienced mechanical engineers.
- Hands-on experience developing real-world robotic products.
- Exposure to the complete product development lifecycle.
- Opportunities to work on industrial design, simulation, manufacturing, and testing.
- A fast-paced startup environment with significant learning and growth opportunities.
- The chance to help shape the future of robotics and automation in India.
