A plastic machine operator sets up, monitors, and maintains manufacturing equipment (such as injection, extrusion, or blow molding machines) to produce plastic components. - Machine Operation: Set up and run polymer processing machines according to standard operating procedures and production blueprints. [1, 2, 3]
- Quality Control: Perform visual and dimensional checks on finished products using measuring instruments like Vernier calipers or gauges to ensure they meet specifications. [1, 2, 3]
- Material Management: Load plastic pellets or resins into hoppers, ensuring a steady, uninterrupted production flow. [1]
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Monitor cycle times, temperatures, and pressures. Perform basic machine maintenance, clean equipment, and troubleshoot minor malfunctions. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Record Keeping: Log production runs, material usage, and machine downtime. [1]
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to strict safety guidelines and maintain 5S workplace organization to prevent accidents and material waste. [1, 2]
Common Requirements
- Education: High school diploma, ITI, or equivalent vocational training.
- Experience: Previous experience in manufacturing, specifically with injection or blow molding.
- Physical Strength: Ability to stand for long periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift moderate to heavy loads (usually up to 15–20 kg).
- Technical Skills: Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to read technical drawings or blueprints
