The HomeAway Analytics and Data Insights team is looking for an analytical and technically skilled leader to join our team. This position will be responsible for hiring and leading an analytics team based in India that supports HomeAway’s Product, Marketing and Commerce teams globally. The analytics team in India will consist of 4+ team members, and will be responsible for various analytical tasks including but not limited to A/B test readouts, ad-hoc analyses and data pulls, competitive monitoring, reporting visualizations and data validation.
The Business Analyst will recruit, hire, train and manage all Analytics employees based in India, serving as the primary liaison between the India-based Analytics team and others in Austin and Europe. She/he will be responsible for understanding and training the team on HomeAway’s data flows and processes, collecting and communicating customer requirements, and ultimately delivering solutions to our internal customers as part of the global analytics team. This role reports to HA’s head of operations in India and requires an individual with excellent communication and analytical abilities and a keen focus on Agile development and process improvement.
Recruit and hire a technically skilled and business-savvy team responsible for analytics requests spread across A/B test readouts, ad-hoc analyses and data pulls, competitive monitoring, reporting visualizations and data validation.
Participate in weekly scrum meetings with the broader global Analytics organization, helping set prioritization of tasks and taking on work based on the India team’s capabilities and capacity.
Partner with global Analytics teams, and often directly with internal customers as well, to understand and prioritize user stories related to analysis and reporting
Work with other Analytics managers to determine appropriate split of work between Austin team and India team based on task complexity and urgency, and team capabilities
Ensure all work is effectively documented in our internal task-planning systems and transparent to both the broader analytical team and our internal customers
Based on completed user stories, collaborate with cross-functional teams globally to provide ad-hoc analyses and/or design self-service data products to address customer needs
Raise questions and concerns rapidly to avoid any potential delays related to the team’s geographic spread
In some cases, present findings and visualize data to a wide range of stakeholders
Be a HomeAway data guru - be the point of contact for all data questions and insights for the India team, and drive data collection robustness across the organization through process improvement recommendations
2 - 4 years’ experience as a Business Analyst of an analytical and data insights team based in India working multi-nationally
Consistent ability to product quality, accurate and highly detailed work products with strong documentation of requirements and sources used for easy reproducibility.
Proven track record of solving complex business problems and communicating easily understood recommendations to teams for implementation
Proficient at analyzing and interpreting data to the point of being comfortable enough to mentor other analysts from other internal teams.
Expert-level SQL and Tableau, with meaningful experience working with Hive, R, Python and other big data tools
Desire to work with US and EU based teams, with some acceptance of early/late hours to accommodate
Excellent verbal communication skills
Flexible and enthusiastic, with ability to deliver results in a constantly-evolving environment
Passion for data-driven business decision making and ability to thrive in a large matrix organization
Experience in either web/travel industry and/or consulting
Past experience operating in Scrum/agile methodology
Degree in an analytical field (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or Econometrics), preferably Masters or Ph.D.
Familiarity with eCommerce, web analytics and big data and visualization platforms (e.g.,: Datameer, Tableau, Microstrategy, Google Analytics, Adwords)
