The selected candidate
- Provides technical leadership in the design, development, and deployment of AI solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices
- Architects and oversees the design of scalable AI application pipelines, ensuring robust, efficient, and secure integration of AI models into production environments
- Leads cross-functional teams of AI engineers, developers, and product managers, driving project timelines, resource allocation, and delivering impactful AI-driven products and solutions
- Champions innovation by staying ahead of the latest advancements in AI, guiding the strategic direction of AI initiatives, and mentoring team members to elevate the organization's AI engineering capabilities
Your key responsibilities include
- Managing the end-to-end delivery of AI-powered solutions using modern AI frameworks, agentic patterns, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to build production-grade cognitive services
- Designing and implementing production-ready AI architectures including API design, orchestration layers, and integration with enterprise systems
- Ensuring AI solution quality and reliability through evaluation frameworks, guardrails, hallucination mitigation strategies, and observability practices (tracing, logging, monitoring)
- Collaborating with relevant business areas to identify new projects and opportunities, understanding their requirements, setting success criteria and ensuring delivery
- Leading medium sized projects while contributing as a hands-on individual contributor, and training / mentoring junior team members
Skills and attributes for success
- 12+ years of overall experience in software engineering / IT, with hands-on experience in building and deploying AI applications in production environments
- Strong experience in designing and implementing RAG architectures, agentic AI frameworks, and vector database solutions
- Experience with model fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and model evaluation at production scale
- Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for deploying and scaling AI solutions, including serverless architectures and managed AI services
- Strong programming skills in Python with experience in developing and deploying production-grade APIs and web applications
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines for AI systems
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and modern software development workflows
- Familiarity with Hugging Face ecosystem and open-source AI tooling
- Awareness of Responsible AI principles, AI governance, and emerging AI compliance requirements
- Knowledge of AI security practices including data privacy, model access controls, and secure API design
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with classical ML/NLP fundamentals (supervised/unsupervised learning, statistical modeling)
- Experience with machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
- Experience with cost optimization strategies for AI inference at scale
Non-Technical Skills:
- Proven track record of leading and collaborating on strategic initiatives for at least the last 2-3 years
Strong team and business communication skills - - can walk through an approach with technical clients or explain tricky concepts to non-technical people
