Role Overview
The company is looking for a hands-on Data Architect to design and build a scalable healthcare data platform from the ground up. The role focuses on healthcare interoperability, cloud-native data architecture, and large-scale clinical data ingestion. The candidate will have significant ownership of technical architecture, platform strategy, and engineering mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end healthcare data ingestion pipelines for:
- FHIR
- HL7v2
- CSV files
- Clinical documents and artifacts
- Build and enhance integration frameworks, including:
- SFTP-based hospital integrations
- FHIR/API connectors
- Large-file upload and processing systems
- Architect ingestion pipelines for large healthcare datasets such as:
- DICOM medical imaging
- Genomics data
- Develop secure integrations with EHR systems:
- Epic
- Cerner
- Athena
- Implement:
- OAuth2 authentication
- Incremental data synchronization
- Pagination and rate-limit handling
- Define healthcare data normalization and validation standards using FHIR and tools like Firely.
- Establish data governance, schema management, lineage, auditability, and HIPAA compliance.
- Build reliable workflows with monitoring, retries, failure recovery, quarantine, and reprocessing capabilities.
- Mentor engineers and drive architecture best practices.
Required Skills
- 6–8 years in Data Engineering or Data Architecture.
- Strong expertise in:
- FHIR
- HL7v2
- Healthcare interoperability
- Experience integrating with EHR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Athena).
- Cloud platform expertise (AWS or Azure).
- Knowledge of: Kubernetes
- Microservices
- Event-driven architectures
- API integrations and OAuth2
- Experience building scalable data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
- Understanding of HIPAA and healthcare data governance.
Preferred Skills
- Mirth Connect or other HL7 interface engines.
- Kafka or other streaming technologies.
- Healthcare canonical data models.
- Experience with oncology or specialty healthcare domains.
- Exposure to DICOM imaging and genomics data.
A senior Data Architect who has:
- Built healthcare data platforms and interoperability solutions.
- Worked extensively with FHIR/HL7 standards.
- Designed cloud-native, scalable data architectures.
- Led technical decisions and mentored engineering teams.
