Role Overview
We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Junior Veterinarian to oversee the health and well-being of pets staying at Pawkie Planet. The ideal candidate is passionate about animal welfare, comfortable handling dogs of different breeds and temperaments, and enjoys working closely with pet parents.
Responsibilities
- Conduct health assessments during pet check-in
- Monitor pets daily for signs of illness, stress, injury, or behavioural changes
- Maintain vaccination and medical records
- Administer basic medications as prescribed
- Handle minor medical emergencies and coordinate referrals to partner veterinary hospitals when required
- Guide pet care staff on hygiene, nutrition, and health protocols
- Educate pet parents on preventive healthcare, nutrition, and enrichment
- Support grooming and boarding teams with pet wellness recommendations
- Ensure compliance with animal welfare and sanitation standards
Requirements
- BVSc & AH degree from a recognised institution
- Valid Veterinary Council registration
- 0 to 2 years of experience
- Strong animal handling skills
- Excellent communication and empathy towards pet parents
- Ability to work weekends and holidays when required
- Passion for pet wellbeing and enrichment
Preferred
- Experience with companion animals and dog behaviour
- Basic emergency care and first aid knowledge
- Interest in pet wellness, daycare, and preventive healthcare
