The Sales Executive will be responsible for visiting retail shops and supermarkets along assigned routes in Kannur district. The role involves introducing NMC to new shops, growing order volumes from existing customers, collecting market intelligence, and ensuring that every order is properly logged, communicated, and delivered.
Key Responsibilities Represent NMC professionally in the field. Visit assigned retail shops, supermarkets, and grocery outlets on fixed daily routes. Introduce NMC as a trusted wholesale supplier with 25+ years of market presence, reliable order fulfilment, and timely delivery. Before visiting any shop, speak with shop salespersons to understand what products are needed. Prepare a list of required items before approaching the shop owner, so the owner’s time is respected and the conversation is focused. Add new shops to NMC’s customer network. Where shops already work with other distributors, position NMC as an additional supplier and secure a minimum initial order. The goal is steady expansion of the customer base across all assigned routes. For existing customers, work on increasing order volumes as per targets and instructions given by the company. Understand the shop’s buying patterns and suggest products accordingly. Study the competitive landscape on each route. Collect details on existing distributors, their delivery frequency, credit periods, product range, and how they work with shops. Report this information to management in the prescribed format. At the start of each working day, check with the accounts department and warehouse on available inventory before taking orders. Do not commit to items that are out of stock. Log all order details daily in the format prescribed by the company. Make sure every order is entered into the Marg software by coordinating with the accounts department on the same day. Follow the company’s payment collection process. Collect payments from shops as per the schedule and format given by management. Maintain accurate records of all collections and outstanding amounts. Coordinate with drivers and the floor supervisor to ensure that orders are delivered correctly and on time. Flag any delivery issues immediately. Wear the company uniform at all times during field visits. Carry NMC’s official billing documents, brochures, and any other prescribed formats during every visit. Maintain professional, respectful communication with shop owners and their staff at all times.
Targets Performance will be measured against the following targets, reviewed on a regular basis: New shop additions per week/month as per assigned route plan Minimum order values from newly added shops Product-wise sales targets as set by management Payment collection against outstanding amounts in the prescribed format Daily order logging and reporting compliance Requirements Previous experience in field sales, preferably in FMCG or grocery wholesale distribution Familiarity with the retail shop network in Kannur district is preferred Comfortable using a mobile phone for daily reporting and order logging Able to communicate clearly in Malayalam and basic English
