Position: Health and Safety OfficerJob Summary
The Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and improving occupational health and safety practices across the Processing Division. The role involves ensuring compliance with applicable safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, promoting a safe work environment, and fostering a strong safety culture among employees and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with applicable legal requirements and company standards.
- Ensure compliance with the Factories Act, Tamil Nadu Factory Rules, and other relevant occupational health and safety regulations.
- Conduct routine workplace inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments within all processing departments.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Organize and conduct safety induction programs, toolbox talks, refresher training sessions, and awareness campaigns for employees and contractors.
- Monitor the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure adequate availability across the facility.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including mock drills for fire, chemical spills, and other emergency situations.
- Maintain statutory registers, safety records, incident reports, and documentation required by regulatory authorities.
- Liaise with government inspectors, auditors, and external agencies during inspections and compliance reviews.
- Support occupational health initiatives, including employee health surveillance and wellness programs.
- Ensure safety compliance during maintenance activities, contractor work, and new project installations.
- Prepare monthly safety performance reports and present findings to management.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing workplace injuries and enhancing safety performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Industrial Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Additional certifications such as Diploma in Industrial Safety (DIS), NEBOSH, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 2 to 5 years of experience in occupational health and safety within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in the textile processing industry will be preferred.
- Fresh candidates possessing relevant safety qualifications may also be considered for trainee-level opportunities.

Working Conditions
- Factory-based role involving regular visits to production areas.
- Requires monitoring of safety practices in environments involving machinery, chemicals, heat, and operational activities.
- Flexibility to respond to emergencies and conduct periodic safety drills as required.
