We are seeking a skilled and passionate Restoration Architect to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing the restoration of historic buildings and structures, ensuring that projects are completed in accordance with preservation standards and regulations. This role requires a deep understanding of historical architecture, excellent project management skills, and a commitment to preserving cultural heritage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough research and analysis of historical structures to understand their original design,
materials, and construction methods.
- Develop detailed restoration plans and designs that maintain the integrity and authenticity of historic
buildings.
- Collaborate with historians, conservationists, engineers, and other professionals to ensure accurate
restoration practices.
- Manage and oversee restoration projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to budgets,
timelines, and quality standards.
- Obtain necessary permits and approvals from relevant authorities for restoration projects.
- Conduct site inspections and assessments to identify structural issues and develop appropriate
restoration solutions.
- Source and procure authentic materials and craftsmanship techniques for restoration projects.
- Prepare and present project proposals, reports, and documentation to clients, stakeholders, and
regulatory bodies.
- Stay updated with advancements in restoration techniques, materials, and technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Historic Preservation, or a related field.
- Professional licensure as an architect.
- Proven experience in restoration and preservation of historic buildings.
- Strong knowledge of architectural history, conservation principles, and preservation laws and
regulations.
- Proficiency in architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and project management tools.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Historic Preservation or related field.
- Membership in professional organizations such as the American Institute of Architects (AIA) or the Association for Preservation Technology (APT).
- Experience with sustainable restoration practices and technologies.
