About the Chamber: I am an independent Advocate with over 25 years of extensive legal practice, specializing primarily in Family Law and Civil Litigation (including matrimonial disputes, custody battles, maintenance applications, and property matters). I am looking to induct a dedicated, hardworking Junior Advocate into my chamber. This is an individual practice setup, meaning you will work directly with me rather than as a cog in a large firm. It offers an exceptional opportunity for a young lawyer to get raw, hands-on exposure to litigation, learn how to manage a practice, and receive direct, day-to-day mentorship.
Key responsibilities:
Drafting: Assisting me in drafting divorce petitions, child custody applications, written statements, domestic violence complaints, and various miscellaneous applications.
Legal Research: Conducting thorough research on family law precedents and landmark judgments using SCC Online, Manupatra, or relevant legal databases.
Court Work: Accompanying me to Family Courts, District Courts, and the High Court. Managing the daily cause list, tracking case statuses, and handling court filings/registry tasks with the clerk.
Client Interaction: Assisting during client briefings, noting down case histories, and maintaining organized case files. Qualifications & Skills: Education: LL.B / B.A. LL.B degree. Bar Status: Enrolled with the Bar Council (or awaiting enrollment).
Core Competencies: Sound basic knowledge of Family Law (Hindu Marriage Act, Special Marriage Act, DV Act, etc.) and civil procedure. Strong drafting and writing skills in English (and proficiency in Hindi], which is essential for local court interactions). Strong work ethic, reliability, and the empathy required to deal with family law clients going through difficult times. Proficiency in MS Word and basic computer operations.
