The Production/Project Engineer will oversee and optimize the manufacturing processes, production workflows, and project timelines in the lab furniture plant. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet quality standards, are produced efficiently, and delivered on time. The role also involves coordinating with design, procurement, and installation teams to manage production schedules and support project execution.
Production Planning & Control:
1. Develop and implement production plans that meet customer requirements while optimizing resource usage.
2. Ensure that production processes are cost-efficient and time-effective.
3. Monitor production workflows, machine performance, and labor allocation to meet daily and monthly production targets.
4. Address bottlenecks and troubleshoot issues that may impact production timelines or quality.
Project Management:
1. Coordinate with cross-functional teams (design, CSD, and installation) to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
2. Prepare project timelines, track progress, and ensure alignment between departments.
3. Ensure all project specifications are adhered to and manage changes to scope, budget, and schedules.
Quality Control:
1. Implement quality control measures at each stage of production to ensure all products meet industry and company standards.
2. Conduct inspections and audits of processes, equipment, and materials.
3. Work closely with the quality assurance team to investigate and resolve quality issues.
Process Optimization:
1. Analyze current production processes and identify opportunities for efficiency improvement.
2. Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement strategies to reduce waste and increase productivity.
3. Optimize machine and labor utilization.
Safety & Compliance:
1. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
2. Implement workplace safety programs and promote a safety-first culture.
3. Ensure all equipment and processes comply with relevant certifications, including ISO standards.
Inventory & Materials Management:
1. Manage procurement functions to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
2. Manage inventory levels, reduce excess inventory, and ensure materials are available to meet production schedules.
3. Develop systems for tracking and forecasting inventory needs.
Technical Support:
1. Provide technical support to the production team, instillation team regarding the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of production equipment.
2. Liaise with equipment suppliers and service teams to ensure machinery is functioning at optimal performance levels.
Team Leadership & Training:
1. Supervise and provide guidance to production staff, including machine operators and technicians.
2. Organize training sessions for staff to enhance skills and ensure that safety protocols and operational procedures are followed.
Qualifications:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
· Experience:
o 3-5 years of experience in production or project engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably in lab furniture or similar industry.
o Proven experience in managing production processes, projects, and cross-functional teams.
· Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and other relevant design and project management software.
o Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
o Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
· Soft Skills:
o Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
o Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
o Time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Other Requirements:
· Understanding of industry standards (ISO, ANSI, SEFA) for lab furniture production.
· Willingness to work in a dynamic environment with varying workloads.
· Flexibility to travel to project sites if required.
