A rigger is a skilled specialist responsible for the safe lifting, moving, and positioning of heavy loads and machinery. They calculate weight capacities, select the appropriate rigging equipment, and work alongside operators to guide and secure materials on construction sites, shipyards, and manufacturing plants.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Selection: Choose the correct equipment for the job, such as wire ropes, synthetic slings, chains, and hoists.
- Load Calculation s Securing: Determine the weight of the load, locate the center of gravity, and attach slings or hooks to ensure even weight distribution.
- Lift Execution: Guide crane operators and heavy machinery during lifts using clear hand signals and radio communication.
- Safety Inspections: Inspect all rigging gear prior to use to ensure it meets safety standards, identifying and reporting any defects.
- Setup s Dismantling: Erect temporary structures like scaffolding, and clean, dismantle, and store equipment after a job is completed.
Essential Skills s Qualifications
- Physical Strength s Spatial Awareness: High physical ability to lift equipment and maneuver loads through tight or difficult spaces.
- Technical Aptitude: Strong understanding of load charts, sling angle stress, and mathematical lifting calculations.
- Safety-Conscious: Strictly adheres to occupational health and safety (OHS) procedures.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and non-verbal skills to coordinate safely with the heavy-lift team.
- Licensing: Often requires vocational certification (e.g., Certificate III in Rigging), specialized high-risk work licenses, and fall-protection training.
Basic Qualification
High School level education.
Performs signaling to crane operators, heavy equipment of all kinds .
Knowledge of strength of hemp roper/wires/other sling materials, correct method of slinging, rigging C crane signaling.
Working Experience
8 Years as Rigger
Pay: ₹37,930.75 - ₹38,930.75 per month
