Purpose
This Job Description outlines the key roles, responsibilities, and qualifications for the Quality Assurance Manager position. It aims to identify a skilled professional to lead quality assurance activities, ensure compliance with standards, enhance product quality, and drive continuous improvement within the organization
Tasks / Roles and Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and oversee product inspection and testing to ensure quality and conformance to specifications and deliverables.
- Support operations by tracking, documenting, and reporting quality levels, as well as CSR, environmental, and health & safety KPIs.
- Investigate product quality issues and ensure timely resolution in accordance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and update procedures for capturing, investigating, and documenting product complaints.
- Monitor risk management procedures, maintain issue logs, and report concerns to senior management and product development teams.
- Provide training and guidance to the Quality Assurance team on systems, policies, procedures, and core processes.
- Identify and analyze recurring defects or quality issues across multiple products and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead Integrated Management System (IMS) audits and coordinate customer audit requirements.
- Conduct periodic internal audits and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
Job requirements (education, experience, additional qualifications)
Education:
- Diploma/Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing Engineering
Experience:
- Minimum 10+ years in Heavy Engineering Industries
Mandatory Skills:
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance methods, tools, and standards
- Experience in Welding, Grinding, Machining, and Fabrication processes
- Certification as Lead/Internal Auditor – ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001
- NDT Level II Certifications – MT / PT / UT / RT
- Knowledge of ISO 3834, EN 1090, APQP, PPAP
- Expertise in root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Statistical Process Control (SPC) knowledge
Preferred Skills:
- Certifications such as Six Sigma, TQM, 5S
- CSWIP / CWI / NACE / BGAS certifications
- Experience in customer audits and supplier quality management
- Proficiency in Tamil, English, and Hindi
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
KPIs:
- Reduction in customer complaints and defects
- On-time closure of non-conformances
- Internal and external audit compliance rate
- Improvement in First Pass Yield (FPY)
- Reduction in rework and rejection levels
- Training effectiveness of QA team
- Timely completion of corrective and preventive actions
