Job Summary:
The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications accurately, ensuring safe and effective drug therapy, maintaining pharmacy inventory, and providing medication-related information to patients and healthcare professionals. The Pharmacist ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities
Medication Dispensing
- Dispense prescribed medications accurately as per doctor's prescription.
- Verify prescriptions for correctness, dosage, drug interactions, and contraindications.
- Ensure proper labeling and packaging of medications.
- Provide patients with instructions regarding medication usage, dosage, storage, and possible side effects.
Inventory Management
- Maintain adequate stock levels of medicines and medical supplies.
- Monitor expiry dates and ensure timely removal of expired products.
- Coordinate with suppliers for procurement and replenishment of stock.
- Conduct regular stock verification and inventory audits.
Patient Care & Counseling
- Counsel patients regarding proper use of medications.
- Educate patients on drug interactions, precautions, and compliance.
- Answer medication-related queries from patients and healthcare staff.
- Promote rational and safe use of medicines.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records of medicine dispensing and inventory.
- Ensure compliance with Pharmacy Act, Drug & Cosmetic Act, and hospital policies.
- Maintain records of controlled and narcotic drugs as per legal requirements.
- Participate in pharmacy audits and inspections.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure proper storage of medicines according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Monitor temperature-sensitive drugs and maintain required records.
- Report medication errors, adverse drug reactions, and discrepancies.
- Follow infection control and patient safety protocols.
Qualification & Experience
- Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm) / Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm).
- Valid registration with State Pharmacy Council.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy (preferred).
- Knowledge of pharmacy software and inventory management systems.

- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products and drug interactions.
- Good communication and counseling skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Inventory and stock management skills.
- Computer proficiency and record-keeping ability.
Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Work in hospital pharmacy, retail pharmacy, or emergency pharmacy settings.

Pay: ₹8,303.59 - ₹15,140.77 per month
