Job Summary
The Academic Coordinator – Middle School is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring the academic programs for Grades 6–7 (or equivalent). The role focuses on curriculum implementation, teacher support, student achievement, assessment management, and maintaining high academic standards while fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.
Academic Planning and Curriculum Management
- Coordinate the implementation of the school's curriculum and academic policies.
- Develop and monitor annual academic plans, unit plans, and lesson schedules.
- Ensure timely completion of syllabus and curriculum objectives.
- Promote innovative teaching strategies and student-centered learning practices.
- Align academic programs with board requirements and institutional goals.
Teacher Support and Development
- Mentor and guide teachers in instructional planning and classroom practices.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback.
- Facilitate teacher training, workshops, and professional development programs.
- Encourage collaborative planning and sharing of best practices among faculty.
- Support new teachers through orientation and mentoring.
Assessment and Student Performance
- Plan and coordinate assessments, examinations, and evaluation processes.
- Monitor student performance and analyze academic data.
- Identify learning gaps and implement intervention and enrichment programs.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of report cards and academic records.
- Track student attendance and academic progress.
Student Development and Well-being
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and parents to address academic and behavioral concerns.
- Promote student participation in academic competitions, projects, and enrichment activities.
- Support the holistic development of students, including critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills.
Parent Communication and Engagement
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding academic expectations and student progress.
- Organize parent-teacher meetings and academic orientation sessions.
- Address academic concerns raised by parents and provide appropriate guidance.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to academic standards, school policies, and board guidelines.
- Maintain accurate academic documentation and records.
- Monitor classroom practices to ensure quality teaching and learning.
- Support accreditation processes and continuous school improvement initiatives.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Prepare academic reports and presentations for school leadership.
- Coordinate academic events, exhibitions, Olympiads, and competitions.
- Assist in timetable planning and resource allocation.
- Support admissions and student placement processes when required.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Education or a relevant subject area.
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, preferably in middle school.
- Previous experience in academic coordination or leadership roles is preferred.
