Role Overview
We are looking for a GIS Developer with 3+ years of hands-on experience in open-source GIS technologies to design and develop scalable geospatial web applications and spatial data platforms.
You will be responsible for building GIS-enabled web applications, developing spatial APIs, managing spatial databases, and implementing 2D/3D web-based GIS visualization solutions.
The role requires close collaboration with backend engineers, UI developers, GIS analysts, and system architects.
Key ResponsibilitiesGIS Application Development
- Design and develop web-based GIS applications using modern open-source technologies
- Develop spatial APIs using Python and FastAPI
- Build interactive GIS front-end applications using React
- Develop web mapping solutions using OpenLayers and Leaflet
- Implement 3D GIS visualization using CesiumJS
- Develop point-cloud visualization using Potree
- Integrate spatial services such as WMS, WFS, WMTS, WPS etc
- Implement modern tile-based GIS architecture using Vector Tiles
- Develop scalable raster and vector tile services using Titiler, TileServ, and FeatureServ
- Handle multiple spatial data formats such as Shapefile, GeoJSON, KML, raster datasets, and LiDAR data
Spatial Data & Database
- Design and manage spatial databases using PostgreSQL/PostGIS
- Perform spatial data processing using GDAL and Python libraries
- Develop automated spatial data pipelines using Celery
- Work with object storage platforms such as MinIO for storing large spatial datasets
- Optimize spatial queries and improve application performance
- Develop automated workflows for spatial data processing
System Integration & Deployment
- Work closely with backend developers to integrate GIS functionality into enterprise applications
- Support deployment and maintenance of GIS applications
- Ensure performance optimization and scalability of web GIS platforms
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience in GIS development
- Strong programming skills in Python
- Experience with FastAPI or REST API development
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS
- Experience with OpenLayers or Leaflet
- Experience using GDAL for spatial data processing
- Experience with React (preferred but not mandatory)
- Experience with modern tile-based GIS architecture
- Understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and spatial data models
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CesiumJS for 3D web GIS
- Experience with Potree or point-cloud visualization
- Experience working with large spatial datasets
- Knowledge of raster processing and spatial analytics
- Experience working in production-level GIS web applications
