Job Description – Assistant Professor / Associate Professor – Computer Science & Engineering (CSE)

Department: Computer Science & Engineering (CSE)

1. Role Summary

The Assistant Professor / Associate Professor – CSE will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, mentoring students, contributing to research activities, and supporting departmental academic and administrative functions. The role requires a strong commitment to academic excellence, innovation, industry collaboration, and continuous professional development.

2. Key Responsibilities

Academic Responsibilities

Deliver lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and project guidance for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Prepare lesson plans, course materials, assignments, question papers, and assessment reports.
Ensure effective teaching-learning practices aligned with AICTE, VTU, and institutional guidelines.
Evaluate student performance and provide timely academic feedback.

Research & Development

Conduct research in specialized areas of Computer Science and Engineering.
Publish research papers in reputed journals and conferences.
Apply for funded research projects, patents, and consultancy opportunities.
Guide student projects, research initiatives, and innovation activities.

Student Mentoring

Mentor students on academic, career, and personal development.
Encourage participation in hackathons, coding competitions, technical events, and internships.
Support placement preparation through technical training and industry-oriented learning.

Academic Administration

Participate in curriculum development, syllabus revision, and outcome-based education initiatives.
Maintain academic records, attendance, and departmental documentation.
Contribute to accreditation and quality assurance activities such as NAAC, NBA, and AICTE compliance.
Assist in organizing workshops, seminars, FDPs, conferences, and technical events.

Industry Interaction

Develop industry collaborations for internships, guest lectures, and project opportunities.
Stay updated with emerging technologies and incorporate industry practices into teaching.
Support innovation, entrepreneurship, and incubation activities.

3. Required Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of core Computer Science subjects.
Expertise in one or more emerging technologies such as AI/ML, Data Science, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, IoT, Blockchain, or Full Stack Development.
Excellent teaching, presentation, and communication skills.
Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and industry partners.
Proficiency in outcome-based education (OBE) and accreditation processes is preferred.

4. Qualification & ExperienceAssistant Professor

B.E./B.Tech and M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering or related discipline.
PhD pursuing or completed PhD preferred.
0–5 years of teaching, research, or industry experience.
Fresh PhD graduates may also apply.

Associate Professor

PhD in Computer Science & Engineering or related specialization (Mandatory).
Minimum 8–10 years of teaching, research, and/or industry experience as per AICTE norms.
Proven research publications, patents, funded projects, or academic contributions.
Experience in academic administration and student mentoring preferred.
