Working with Shangri-La hotel in Mumbai is definitely eventful and a learning experience for me. However the wine sales in India was not as much as I would have liked it to be. The sale of spirits and cocktails completely overshadows wines in India. Procuring good international wines and adding it to the wine list was another challenge as the excise laws in India is one of the most stringent in the world. At the Shangri-La, my core responsibilities were to built a competitive wine list for all the three operational outlets, and banquets. Maintaining wine inventory, requisitioning wine for operations, updating wine list from time to time and training the colleagues on wine knowledge and service among other miscellaneous responsibilities.

I learned many things like mise-en-place of dishes preparing pizzas,hygiene factors,learned many dishes,basic cuts of vegetables and their uses and many more things.

My co-workers are the experienced chefs like cdp's sous chefs and they are very good and humble but at times they have to be tough to make everything right.

Hardest part of job is that i was not allowed to cook food for the guest.

Most enjoyable part is kitchen obviously because i want to become a chef kitchen is my temple.

Typical day started with reporting to the HR or duty manager of the respective department and then to carry out the tasks as ordered by him/her.
Learned different tasks carried out in the hotel like room booking, banquet booking, making beds, serving food and drinks to people, preparing exotic dishes etc.
Management was very friendly and helpful.
Workplace culture was very nice and satisfactory.

I day the started working in this brand i came forward that it has numerous chains of hotels which are operating worldwide. The owner of the property called shangrila eros hotel New delhi Mr raman kumaar sood is a very humble and dignified person. I came across versatile managers which are very engaging in putting trainees forward in operations so that we can 
gainknowledge

It is a good company to work with . They think about the employees as well . They give is cross trainings as well in other departments and also a good brand in all over the work . Guest's satisfaction is also important for them .

Work in Shangri-la Hotel, it's unforgettable moment. 
It's great learning place. Each head of the department care about the employees and teach how to Welcome to the Guest from the beginning till C-out. 
Time to time training & development programme for all employee and it was mandatory. 
Workplace is very friendly & enjoyable. 


1. A wedding group inhouse three days continous function.
2. Never keep your work balance complete it or make a proper handover to complete it.
3. management is like maintaining every procedures and work in a proper way and documented.
4. Co-workers were very good.
5. I enjoy every prospect of the job.

One of the worst hotel at present. The hotel is around 16 year old. It was one the best hotel to work initially but getting worst in terms of employees benifit.
Old staff have been thrown out without reason. Out of approximately 700 staff only 80 are safe as on today rest all have been sent home without pay.
Very sad.

The hotel is busy throughout and the working hours are often extended. They do give you your due off days...at least they did for me because i was a girl intern. But its not much of a learning environment. Its just continuous work and you're kind of just thrown to whichever department is busy and needs people. But its not really rewarding.
