The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and driven Software Development Manager with a Java development background to join our engineering leadership team. In this role, you will lead a talented group of software engineers, drive Agile delivery, and remain hands-on with our Java and React JS technology stack. You will be the bridge between business strategy and technical execution — helping your team do their best work while ensuring we ship high-quality financial products on time.
What You'll Do
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 6–15 software engineers across back-end and front-end disciplines
- Actively participate in hands-on development using Java (Spring Boot) and React JS for key features and architectural decisions
- Drive all Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives
- Partner closely with Product, Design, and QA teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Own delivery timelines, manage risks, and maintain team velocity and morale
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices including code reviews, CI/CD, test automation, and security standards
- Conduct performance reviews, run 1:1s, and actively support the career growth of your engineers
- Recruit and onboard top engineering talent to expand the team
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align the technical roadmap with product and business objectives
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 2–3 years in a people management
- Strong hands-on proficiency in Java (Spring Boot, microservices architecture) and React JS
- Solid experience leading Agile/Scrum teams in a fast-moving product environment
- Prior experience in FinTech, banking, payments, or financial services is strongly preferred
- Deep understanding of REST APIs, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and distributed systems
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Strong grasp of software security principles (OWASP, OAuth, PCI-DSS awareness)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — comfortable presenting to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Nice to Have
- Experience with payments processing (card rails, ACH, SWIFT) or open banking architectures
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or SAFe certification
- Experience scaling engineering teams through rapid organizational growth
