Fireworks Industry Charcoal Research & Sourcing Manager
Job Purpose
Lead the research, technical evaluation, and business development of charcoal products for the fireworks industry, identify the most suitable charcoal grades, build relationships with fireworks manufacturers, and develop a scalable supply strategy.
Education
- B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Chemistry, or Pyrotechnics.
- Preferred: M.Tech/M.Sc in Explosives, Pyrotechnics, or Industrial Chemistry.
Experience
Minimum 5–10 years in one or more of these areas:
- Fireworks manufacturing
- Pyrotechnic raw materials procurement
- Charcoal production for fireworks
- Explosives/pyrotechnics R&D
- Industrial carbon materials
Key Responsibilities
1. Fireworks Industry R&D
- Study charcoal used by fireworks manufacturers.
- Identify preferred wood species (e.g., willow, paulownia, balsa, etc., depending on market).
- Analyze required specifications: fixed carbon, ash %, moisture %, density, and reactivity.
- Benchmark competitors and international suppliers.
3. Market & Sourcing Analysis
- Identify major fireworks manufacturers and procurement teams.
- Map annual charcoal consumption by region.
- Determine pricing, quality expectations, and supply gaps.
4. Business Development
- Build relationships with fireworks companies.
- Arrange product trials.
- Convert trials into long-term supply contracts.
Required Skills
Must have
- Deep knowledge of fireworks raw materials.
- Experience with charcoal testing and specification development.
- Strong analytical and market research skills.
- Ability to interact with factory owners and procurement heads.
- Excellent reporting and presentation skills.
· Which wood species are preferred for fireworks charcoal.
· Effects of fixed carbon, volatile matter, ash, moisture, and particle size.
· Applications in black powder, stars, lift charges, and burst compositions.
· Testing methods for pyrotechnic charcoal.

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
