Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Substation Procurement Manager to lead procurement activities for AIS/GIS Substation projects, with additional exposure to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)/Smart Metering. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sourcing electrical equipment, managing strategic suppliers, negotiating techno-commercial contracts, and ensuring timely procurement to support EPC and utility projects.
Key Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end procurement for AIS/GIS Substation projects (33kV–765kV).

Lead procurement of major electrical equipment including:

Power Transformers
-
Circuit Breakers
-
Isolators
-
CTs/PTs
-
Protection & Control Panels
-
Switchgear
-
SCADA/Automation Systems
-
Cables, Busbars, Structures and Balance of Plant (BoP) items

Support procurement for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, including battery containers/racks, PCS/Inverters, EMS, BMS, transformers, HVAC, fire suppression systems, and associated balance-of-system equipment.

Handle procurement activities for Smart Metering/AMI projects, including smart meters, communication modules, data concentrator units (DCUs), communication infrastructure, and related accessories.

Develop sourcing strategies, identify and evaluate suppliers, and conduct techno-commercial bid evaluations.

Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, warranties, and commercial contracts.

Coordinate with Engineering, Projects, QA/QC, Planning, and Logistics teams for timely material delivery.

Build and manage strategic supplier relationships while driving cost optimization and value engineering.

Track procurement schedules, supplier performance, and project milestones to ensure on-time execution.

Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, quality standards, and contractual requirements.

Maintain procurement MIS, vendor database, and cost-saving initiatives.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. MBA in Supply Chain/Operations is an advantage.

8–10 years of procurement experience, with a strong focus on Substation (AIS/GIS) projects.

Exposure to procurement for BESS and/or Smart Metering (AMI) projects will be preferred.

Strong understanding of electrical equipment, technical specifications, and EPC procurement processes.

Experience in vendor development, techno-commercial negotiations, and contract management.

Working knowledge of SAP/Oracle or other ERP systems.

Excellent negotiation, communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have extensive procurement experience in Substation projects, with additional exposure to BESS and Smart Metering. Candidates who have worked with EPC contractors, utilities, OEMs, or power infrastructure companies handling multi-disciplinary electrical procurement will be preferred.
