A Multi-Skilled Technician maintains and repairs various systems—mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC—to ensure facility efficiency and safety. They perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair equipment while managing general facility upkeep. This role requires a versatile skill set, technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and often, physical stamina.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance on electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose malfunctions in machinery, building systems, and electrical components.
- Repairs: Fix or replace faulty components, such as wiring, light fixtures, plumbing, or basic HVAC parts.
- Facilities Support: Handle general repairs like painting, door locks, and carpentry to maintain the property.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies, including lockout/tagout procedures.
- Reporting: Document maintenance tasks, repair work, and inventory levels of parts.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Knowledge in at least two or more trades (e.g., HVAC and Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing).
- Education/Training: Often requires ITI, vocational training, diploma in engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Troubleshooting: Ability to identify issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Physical Ability: Capability to lift heavy objects and work in varied conditions.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills to interact with customers/colleagues and calm professional demeanor.
