The Commis 3 is an emerging culinary professional with solid foundational kitchen experience. This role is instrumental in supporting the Commis 2 and Chef de Partie in executing restaurant standards, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and developing core cooking competencies. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and demonstrates a strong work ethic with commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare mise-en-place components under supervision of Commis 2/Chef de Partie
- Assist in cooking Continental dishes following established recipes and plating standards
- Maintain station cleanliness, hygiene, and organization during and after service
- Perform basic food preparation tasks including cutting, washing, and ingredient prepping
- Support plating and garnishing under guidance, developing presentation skills
- Assist with inventory management, stock rotation, and equipment organization
- Follow all food safety and kitchen hygiene protocols strictly
- Learn and practice classical cooking techniques under mentorship
- Respond promptly to kitchen calls and adapt to changing service demands
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years of kitchen experience in a fine dining or reputable restaurant
- Foundational knowledge of Continental/European cuisine and cooking methods
- Proficiency with basic kitchen equipment and knives
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to follow recipes and kitchen procedures accurately
- Good knife handling skills and basic plating technique
- Clear communication and ability to work as part of a team
