Responsible for assisting the Anesthesiologist during pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative procedures by ensuring timely availability, preparation and proper functioning of anesthesia equipment, drugs, consumables and related OT resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Anesthesiologists during induction, maintenance and recovery of anesthesia.
- Prepare and check anesthesia machines, ventilators, monitors, breathing circuits and other anesthesia equipment before procedures.
- Ensure availability and readiness of anesthesia drugs, emergency medications, consumables and airway management equipment as per hospital protocols.
- Assist in patient preparation and positioning as directed by the Anesthesiologist and OT team.
- Support airway management procedures and assist with intubation/extubation as instructed.
- Monitor availability and functioning of oxygen, medical gases, suction and other essential OT equipment.
- Clean, disinfect, sterilize and maintain anesthesia equipment as per infection-control protocols.
- Maintain adequate stock of anesthesia consumables and promptly report shortages or damaged equipment.
- Ensure proper documentation, equipment checklists and maintenance records are updated.
- Assist in handling and shifting of anesthesia equipment between OT, ICU and other required areas.
- Support the team during emergency procedures and resuscitation activities.
- Coordinate with OT, Nursing, CSSD, Biomedical and other departments for smooth functioning of anesthesia services.
- Follow hospital policies related to patient safety, infection prevention, biomedical waste management and NABH standards.
- Ensure proper handover of equipment, drugs and consumables between shifts.
- Participate in training, mock drills, competency assessments and quality-improvement activities.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of anesthesia equipment and OT procedures.
- Knowledge of airway management equipment and emergency protocols.
- Ability to work effectively in emergency and high-pressure situations.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Strong focus on patient safety and infection control.
- Basic computer and documentation skills.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including nights, weekends and emergency duties.
Preferred Experience
Experience in major OT, oncology, critical care, emergency hospital setup will be preferred.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
