As we deliver our ambitious 2030 Growth Strategy, we’re looking for a Applications Scientist to lead Product Validation & Claims Substantiation lab. The incumbent will provide technical services to customers, Troubleshooting & providing solutions on Customer’s formulation using our Actives with the help of data generation.

PG in Cosmetic engineering or related field

Proven expertise in claims substantiation, with strong exposure to customer-facing roles including technical discussions, training sessions, and project support.

Claims Substantiation Expertise: Demonstrated experience in designing and executing claims studies, with hands‑on proficiency in evaluating parameters such as Hair Shine, Tensile Strength etc
- Proven experience and understanding of Hair Care & Skin Care ingredients, predominantly for Hair growth, colour, greying, Skin Barrier repair,anti-ageing etc.

Must have good oral and written communication skills to be able to represent Croda.

Works well in a team and interact effectively with others.

Familiarity with Hair care & skin care applications and instruments used in the laboratory.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Claims Substantiation: Designing and executing claims studies for both hair and skin applications, including Hair Shine, Tensile Strength, Frizz Control, Skin Hydration, and Barrier Function.

Technical Evaluation: Apply scientific knowledge to design, conduct, and analyze laboratory experiments validating product claims. Review results, investigate issues through data collection, and recommend next steps for experiments or project stages.

Customer Work Requests: Support global and regional teams by executing CWRs, ensuring robust data generation and substantiation for customer projects.
Collaboration : Work directly with customers to assess needs or co-develop formulations.
- Training: Provide technical support to sales, marketing, and applications teams. Respond to customer technical enquiries, conduct training sessions, and participate in technical visits. Mentor and guide less experienced candidate in claims testing methodologies.

Global Integration: Work closely with global R&D teams to align testing protocols, share data, and co‑develop innovative claims substantiation approaches for new product launches.

Project Management: Independently plan and manage multiple validation projects, ranging from short‑term studies to long‑term innovation programs, ensuring timely delivery of substantiated claims.

Frequently select the most viable development routes for projects, whether complex or straightforward, in consultation with the line manager.

Keep research, sales, and marketing teams updated on project developments.

Communicate primarily through verbal discussions within the applications group, and via emails and written technical reports to other departments (e.g., research, marketing, and sales). Present complex scientific information in formats appropriate for each audience. Occasionally share technical product information with customers via email or during technical visits.
- Innovation Support: Develop new test methodologies and novel evaluation techniques to support product launches and strengthen Croda’s portfolio in Hair & Skin Care.

Market Awareness: Continuously enhance knowledge of evolving consumer needs and market trends in Hair & Skin Care, ensuring claims studies remain relevant and competitive.
