Job Summary
The Chief Specialist – Technical Supply Chain Management (Vendor Management) is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing vendor management strategies that support the procurement of aircraft parts, components, repair services, tooling, and technical services. The role ensures that suppliers consistently meet the organization's requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery, and regulatory compliance while maintaining high levels of aircraft availability and operational reliability.
The position serves as the primary interface between the airline and technical suppliers, including aircraft manufacturers (OEMs), Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) providers, component repair vendors, logistics partners, and other service providers. The role is responsible for supplier performance management, contract governance, vendor risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives that optimize technical supply chain performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesVendor Management
- Develop and implement vendor management strategies that support the organization's technical supply chain objectives.
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with OEMs, MRO providers, component repair organizations, parts suppliers, logistics providers, and technical service vendors.
- Serve as the primary focal point for supplier relationship management and performance reviews.
- Conduct regular business review meetings with key suppliers to monitor performance, resolve issues, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Maintain an approved vendor database in collaboration with Procurement and Quality Assurance.
Supplier Performance Management
- Develop supplier performance scorecards and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Monitor supplier performance against agreed service levels, quality standards, delivery commitments, turnaround times, and contractual obligations.
- Analyze supplier performance trends and implement corrective action plans where required.
- Evaluate supplier capability, capacity, financial stability, and operational performance.
- Drive continuous supplier performance improvement initiatives.
Contract & Commercial Management
- Support Procurement in supplier selection, tender evaluations, and contract negotiations.
- Ensure vendor compliance with contractual terms, pricing agreements, warranties, service level agreements (SLAs), and key performance requirements.
- Monitor contract performance throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Support contract renewals, amendments, and supplier performance evaluations.
- Identify commercial opportunities for cost optimization and value creation.
Technical Supply Chain Coordination
- Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance Planning, Materials Management, Procurement, Logistics, and Finance to ensure supplier support aligns with operational requirements.
- Monitor supplier support for aircraft-on-ground (AOG) events and critical material requirements.
- Ensure suppliers maintain agreed inventory support, repair turnaround times, and logistics performance.
- Support fleet induction, modification programs, and major maintenance events through effective supplier coordination.
Risk & Compliance Management
- Assess supplier risks related to quality, financial stability, operational capability, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop supplier risk mitigation and business continuity plans.
- Ensure suppliers comply with applicable aviation regulations, company standards, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance regarding supplier audits, corrective actions, and vendor approvals.
- Maintain governance over supplier documentation, certifications, and approvals.
Financial & Performance Analysis
- Monitor supplier spending and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process efficiencies.
- Analyze supplier pricing, repair costs, inventory support, and contract utilization.
- Prepare vendor performance reports and executive dashboards.
- Support budget planning by providing supplier cost forecasts and expenditure analysis.
- Contribute to strategic sourcing initiatives through market intelligence and benchmarking.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve supplier management processes and governance.
- Lead supplier development and partnership initiatives.
- Support digital transformation projects involving supplier portals, ERP systems, and performance dashboards.
- Promote best practices in vendor management, procurement, and supply chain performance.
- Mentor and support junior team members on supplier management processes and commercial best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Aviation Management, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree (MBA, Supply Chain Management, Aviation Management, or Engineering Management) is an advantage.
- Professional certifications such as CIPS, APICS/ASCM (CSCP or CPIM), CPSM, PMP, or Lean Six Sigma are desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in aviation technical supply chain, procurement, vendor management, contract management, or engineering support.
- At least 3–5 years in a supplier relationship or vendor management role within an airline, MRO, OEM, or aviation services organization.
- Experience managing technical suppliers supporting aircraft maintenance operations.
- Demonstrated experience in supplier performance management, contract administration, and commercial negotiations.

Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹750,000.00 per month
