We are looking for a dynamic Costing Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about driving cost efficiency, competitive bidding, and project profitability.
Role Overview
As a Costing Engineer, you will play a critical role in project planning and commercial success by preparing accurate cost estimates, BOQs, and tender submissions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that all costings align with technical specifications, market trends, and business objectives, enabling us to deliver value-driven solutions to our clients.
Key ResponsibilitiesCost Estimation & Analysis
- Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates based on project specifications, electrical designs, and scope documentation
- Perform cost modeling, forecasting, and cost-benefit analysis to support decision-making
- Maintain and optimize overhead cost databases for improved cost tracking and allocation
- Leverage tools such as Excel, ERP systems, and costing software for efficient analysis
Tendering & Bid Management
- Prepare and submit technical and commercial bid proposals in line with client requirements
- Review and interpret tender documents, contracts, and scope of work
- Analyze historical data to recommend competitive pricing strategies
- Ensure full compliance with industry standards, legal regulations, and client expectations
Vendor & Procurement Coordination
- Engage with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
- Conduct technical and commercial evaluations of vendor proposals
- Monitor market trends and material price fluctuations to inform procurement strategies
- Collaborate with procurement teams to anticipate cost escalations and risks
Cost Control & Budgeting
- Track project costs by comparing estimated vs. actual expenditures
- Identify cost variances, overruns, and savings opportunities
- Support teams in implementing cost optimization initiatives
- Contribute to financial planning and budget management activities
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with engineering, procurement, finance, HR, and project teams
- Participate in project review meetings and strategic discussions
- Provide insights to support data-driven decision-making
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain updated records of material costs, labor rates, and subcontractor data
- Prepare comprehensive costing reports, bid summaries, and analysis dashboards
- Present regular updates on cost trends, tender outcomes, and project performance
What We’re Looking ForQualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Cost Engineering, or a related field
Experience
- 4–5 years of hands-on experience in cost estimation, tendering, and project budgeting
- Experience in infrastructure, construction, industrial, or power distribution projects is an advantage
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, load calculations, and design principles
- Expertise in BOQ preparation, bid management, and cost modeling
- Knowledge of contract management, risk assessment, and tendering standards
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, ERP systems, and costing tools
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and vendor management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Detail-oriented with a proactive and solution-driven mindset
