About the Role
The Process Engineer – STP will be responsible for designing, optimizing, monitoring, and troubleshooting Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) processes within the Bioremediation vertical. The role requires strong technical expertise in biological wastewater treatment systems, process efficiency improvement, regulatory compliance, and operational support for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment projects.
The incumbent will work closely with operations, projects, R&D, and client teams to ensure efficient treatment performance, process stability, sustainability, and cost optimization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Process Design & Engineering
Design and optimize STP treatment processes including biological, chemical, and tertiary treatment systems.
Prepare process flow diagrams (PFDs), process calculations, hydraulic calculations, and mass balance sheets.
Support selection and sizing of equipment such as aeration systems, clarifiers, pumps, blowers, filters, and dosing systems.
Evaluate treatment technologies for bioremediation and sustainable wastewater management applications.

Accuracy of process calculations and engineering deliverables
Timely completion of engineering documentation
2. Plant Performance Monitoring
Monitor plant performance parameters including BOD, COD, TSS, pH, MLSS, DO, sludge characteristics, and nutrient balance.
Analyze operational data and recommend corrective actions for process stabilization and optimization.
Conduct root cause analysis for process deviations and recurring operational issues.

Frequency of successful process optimization initiatives
3. Bioremediation & Technology Implementation
Support implementation of microbial and bioremediation-based treatment solutions across STP projects.
Coordinate with R&D teams for field trials, validation studies, and technology enhancement.
Ensure effective dosing strategies and biological process health management.

4. Project & Commissioning Support
Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and stabilization of STP systems.
Conduct site inspections and ensure process design compliance during execution.
Assist in preparation of SOPs, commissioning protocols, and operational manuals.

5. Compliance & Documentation
Ensure adherence to environmental regulations, safety standards, and pollution control norms.

Support internal and external audits related to wastewater treatment operations.

6. Cross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate with operations, sales, service, procurement, and project teams for smooth execution of STP projects.
Provide technical inputs during client discussions and techno-commercial evaluations.
Support training of plant operators and site teams on process best practices.

Desired Candidate Profile
Educational Qualification
B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biotechnology, Civil (Environmental) or related discipline.
Experience
3–8 years of relevant experience in STP/ETP process engineering, wastewater treatment, or bioremediation projects.
Experience in biological wastewater treatment systems is preferred.
Technical Competencies
Strong understanding of STP process design and wastewater treatment technologies.
Knowledge of activated sludge process, MBBR, SBR, MBR, anaerobic systems, and tertiary treatment.
Familiarity with bioremediation concepts and microbial treatment solutions.
Process troubleshooting and analytical capabilities.
Exposure to AutoCAD, process simulation tools, and MS Office.
