Procurement Manager – QuemAbout Quem
Quem is a lifestyle and gifting brand built around the idea of being “Curated for the Curious.” We bring together products that are functional, design-led, quirky, innovative and exciting, across categories such as lifestyle, gadgets, accessories, bags, drinkware and gifting.
With a growing presence in retail and corporate gifting, Quem is focused on discovering products that people do not just need, but genuinely want to own and gift. We are constantly on the lookout for new ideas, unique products and reliable manufacturing and sourcing partners who can help us build an exciting and differentiated product portfolio.
We are now looking for a Procurement Manager who can take ownership of product sourcing and vendor management, while ensuring that every product meets Quem’s expectations for quality, functionality, pricing and overall customer appeal.
Role Overview
The Procurement Manager will play a key role in identifying, evaluating and procuring products for Quem. This role requires someone who is commercially sharp, highly organised, detail-oriented and naturally curious about products and market trends.
You will work closely with the founders and internal teams to understand product requirements, research potential vendors and manufacturers, negotiate commercials, evaluate samples and ensure that products meet the required specifications before being introduced into the business.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Sourcing & Research
- Research and identify new products, product categories and sourcing opportunities relevant to Quem.
- Continuously scout for unique, innovative and commercially viable products.
- Research potential vendors, manufacturers, importers and suppliers across relevant categories.
- Stay updated on product trends, consumer preferences, new launches and emerging opportunities in the market.
- Identify alternative suppliers and sourcing options to ensure competitive pricing and supply continuity.
Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate and onboard suitable vendors and suppliers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new vendors.
- Act as the primary point of contact for vendor communication and negotiations.
- Compare vendors based on product quality, pricing, MOQs, lead times, reliability and service.
- Maintain an organised database of vendors, products, quotations and commercial terms.
- Regularly review vendor performance and address issues related to quality, delays or inconsistencies.
Product Specifications & Quality
- Understand product requirements and communicate detailed specifications to vendors and manufacturers.
- Check product specifications, dimensions, materials, functionality, finishes, colours and other requirements before procurement.
- Coordinate sample development and evaluate samples against approved specifications.
- Work with relevant internal teams to identify potential improvements or modifications to products.
- Ensure that final products match approved samples and agreed quality standards.
- Identify quality issues and work with vendors to resolve them.
Commercial Negotiation & Procurement
- Obtain and compare quotations from multiple vendors.
- Negotiate product pricing, payment terms, MOQs, lead times and other commercial conditions.
- Ensure procurement decisions offer the right balance between quality, cost and margins.
- Prepare cost comparisons and recommendations for management approval.
- Raise and manage purchase orders and track them through to delivery.
- Work towards reducing procurement costs without compromising on product quality.
Inventory & Supply Coordination
- Coordinate with internal teams to understand upcoming product requirements and replenishment needs.
- Monitor supplier lead times and follow up on production and delivery schedules.
- Ensure timely procurement to avoid stock-outs and unnecessary delays.
- Coordinate with logistics, warehouse and operations teams wherever required.
- Help improve procurement processes, tracking systems and reporting.
What We Are Looking For
- 3 to 6 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, purchasing or vendor management. Experience in lifestyle products, consumer products, retail, gifting, electronics or related categories would be an advantage.
- Strong vendor research and sourcing capabilities.
- Excellent negotiation and commercial skills.
- Ability to understand and evaluate product specifications and quality requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, especially when reviewing samples, specifications and quotations.
- Comfortable working with multiple vendors and managing several product requirements simultaneously.
- Good understanding of pricing, margins, MOQs and procurement costs.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Highly organised and comfortable working in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for product comparisons, costing and procurement tracking.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is curious, proactive and commercially minded. Someone who enjoys discovering new products, speaking to different vendors, comparing options and negotiating a great deal.
You should be equally comfortable getting into the smallest product details as you are looking at the bigger commercial picture. If you can look at a product and immediately start asking, Who makes this? Can we improve it? Can we source it better? What should it cost? you will fit right in.
Why Join Quem?
At Quem, you will have the opportunity to play a direct role in shaping the products we bring to market. This is not a purely operational procurement role. You will work closely with the business and founders, explore new products and vendors, and have a tangible impact on what Quem sells and how the brand grows.
If you enjoy product discovery, sourcing, negotiation and building something exciting from the ground up, we would love to hear from you.
