We are looking for an experienced Senior Aerospace Design Engineer with extensive expertise in fixed-wing drone design, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to lead the mechanical and aerodynamic design of advanced UAV platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Aircraft Design & Development
- Lead the complete mechanical and aerodynamic design of fixed-wing UAVs from concept to production.
- Design lightweight composite and metallic airframes with emphasis on structural integrity and manufacturability.
- Develop detailed CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
- Optimize aircraft weight, balance, and structural efficiency.
Aerodynamic Design
- Design wings, empennage, fuselage, airfoils, propulsion integration, and control surfaces.
- Perform aerodynamic calculations and aircraft performance estimation.
- Optimize lift-to-drag ratio and flight efficiency.
- Develop aircraft configurations for endurance, payload, and stability.
CFD Analysis
- Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations for:
- Lift and drag optimization
- Pressure distribution
- Flow separation analysis
- Turbulence modelling
- Cooling airflow analysis
- Wind resistance studies
- Interpret CFD results and recommend design improvements.
- Validate simulation results through wind tunnel or flight-test data wherever applicable.
Structural Design & FEA
- Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on:
- Wings
- Fuselage
- Landing gear
- Motor mounts
- Payload structures
- Conduct stress, strain, fatigue, vibration, and modal analysis.
- Ensure compliance with required safety factors and structural reliability.
UAV Integration
- Integrate propulsion systems, batteries, avionics, payloads, antennas, and communication systems.
- Coordinate with electronics, embedded software, and flight-control teams.
- Support prototype assembly and system integration.
Testing & Validation
- Participate in prototype manufacturing.
- Conduct ground testing and flight testing.
- Analyse flight data and recommend design modifications.
- Prepare validation reports and engineering documentation.
Manufacturing Support
- Coordinate with production teams during prototype and production builds.
- Resolve manufacturing issues related to design.
- Ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
Required Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in:
- Aerospace Engineering
- Aeronautical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering (with Aerospace specialization)
- Master's degree preferred.
Experience
- 4-6 years of experience in aerospace product development.
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in fixed-wing UAV/drone design.
- Experience in taking products from concept through prototype to production.
- Experience working on military, industrial, surveillance, mapping, or logistics UAVs is preferred.
