We are seeking an experienced Lead Radiation Therapist (Senior Radiotherapy Technologist) to join our modern private tertiary-care hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced radiation therapy professional to help establish a new Radiation Oncology Department equipped with a state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator (LINAC) and modern treatment planning technologies.
As the Lead Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in developing clinical workflows, delivering safe and accurate radiation treatments, mentoring local staff, and helping establish international standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
As the Lead Radiation Therapist, you will:
- Deliver external beam radiation therapy accurately and safely according to approved treatment plans.
- Perform patient positioning, immobilization, and image-guided treatment verification.
- Operate the Linear Accelerator (LINAC), CT Simulator, and associated radiotherapy systems.
- Verify patient identity and treatment parameters before every treatment session.
- Monitor patients during treatment and respond appropriately to clinical concerns.
- Collaborate closely with the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist to ensure safe and effective treatment delivery.
- Perform daily machine quality assurance checks in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Maintain accurate treatment documentation using the Oncology Information System.
- Assist in developing departmental policies, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
- Train, mentor, and supervise Afghan Radiation Therapists and Technologists.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and radiation safety programs.
- Promote a culture of patient safety, professionalism, and continuous learning.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma (where professionally recognized) in Radiation Therapy, Radiotherapy Technology, Medical Radiation Sciences, or an equivalent qualification.
- Current professional registration or licensure in the country of practice.
- Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience in a recognized radiation oncology department.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience operating modern Linear Accelerators.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in the following areas will be given preference:
- IMRT
- VMAT
- IGRT
- Cone Beam CT (CBCT)
- CT Simulation
- Image Registration
- Patient Immobilization
- Record & Verify Systems
- ARIA, MOSAIQ, or equivalent Oncology Information Systems
- Department commissioning or startup projects
- Staff training and clinical supervision
International work experience is an advantage but not essential.
