Job Summary
The Emergency Room (ER) Incharge is responsible for the overall management and smooth functioning of the Emergency Department by ensuring prompt, efficient, and high-quality emergency patient care. The role involves supervising nursing staff, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, maintaining clinical standards, ensuring compliance with hospital policies, and delivering excellent patient care while responding effectively to medical emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all emergency nursing activities during the assigned shift.
- Ensure immediate assessment, triage, stabilization, and treatment of emergency patients.
- Coordinate with Emergency Physicians, Consultants, and other departments for timely patient management.
- Monitor patient flow from admission to transfer, discharge, or admission to inpatient units.
- Ensure timely administration of medications and emergency interventions.
- Maintain readiness for trauma, cardiac, stroke, and other medical emergencies.
- Ensure quality nursing care in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Supervise ER Staff Nurses, ER Technicians, and support staff.
- Prepare and manage duty rosters.
- Conduct daily shift handovers.
- Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, and discipline.
- Mentor and train newly recruited nursing staff.
- Evaluate staff performance and recommend training needs.
- Ensure crash carts are fully stocked and checked regularly.
- Monitor emergency drugs, equipment, and consumables.
- Coordinate mock drills for Code Blue, Fire Safety, Disaster Management, and Mass Casualty Incidents.
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of emergency equipment.
Preferred Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
