Endoscopy Technician
Job Description :
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare endoscopy procedure rooms and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
· Assist physicians and nurses during procedures such as colonoscopies, upper GI endoscopies (EGD), bronchoscopies, and other endoscopic procedures.
· Clean, disinfect, and sterilize endoscopes and accessories according to manufacturer guidelines and infection prevention standards.
· Perform routine inspection, testing, and maintenance of endoscopy equipment.
· Transport patients safely before and after procedures.
· Monitor and restock supplies, instruments, and medications as directed.
· Document equipment reprocessing and maintain accurate records.
· Follow infection control, patient safety, and quality assurance protocols.
· Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs with biomedical engineering or vendors.
· Assist with specimen handling and labeling according to laboratory procedures.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Certification as an Endoscopy Technician.
· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
· Previous experience in an endoscopy unit or healthcare setting preferred.
· Knowledge of endoscope reprocessing standards and infection control practices.
· Skills and Competencies
· Knowledge of endoscopic instruments and equipment.
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
