Finance Controller – Projects & OperationsJob Description
We are looking for an experienced Finance Controller to oversee financial planning, project costing, accounting, budgeting, and financial control across our marine, shipbuilding/ship repair, oil & gas, pipeline, infrastructure, and civil construction projects. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring project-wise profitability, P&L, production costs, cash flow, budgets, and financial performance while providing accurate MIS and financial insights to management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage overall financial planning, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and monitor project-wise P&L, budgets, costing, revenue, expenses, and profitability.
- Monitor project and production costs, including materials, manpower, subcontractors, equipment, and overheads.
- Analyze budget vs. actual costs and identify cost overruns, variances, and areas for improvement.
- Monitor project billing, collections, receivables, payables, and cash flow requirements.
- Prepare monthly MIS, P&L, cash-flow statements, project profitability reports, and management reports.
- Coordinate with Project, Production, Procurement, Commercial, and Operations teams for effective cost control.
- Review project estimates, costing, financial projections, and commercial implications before and during project execution.
- Track work-in-progress (WIP), project expenses, material consumption, and production performance.
- Ensure proper accounting, reconciliation, documentation, and timely month-end and year-end closing.
- Establish and maintain effective internal financial controls and approval procedures.
- Coordinate with auditors, banks, tax consultants, and statutory authorities.
- Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax, statutory audits, and applicable financial regulations.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, improved working capital management, and increased project profitability.
- Lead and supervise the Accounts & Finance team and ensure timely completion of financial activities.
- Provide management with financial analysis and recommendations to support project and business decisions.
Qualification & Experience
- B.Com/M.Com/CA Inter/CA/CMA or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in finance and accounts, preferably in project-based industries.
- Experience in construction, marine, shipbuilding/ship repair, oil & gas, pipeline, infrastructure, or manufacturing will be an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of project costing, P&L, budgeting, cash-flow management, production accounting, and MIS reporting.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and accounting/ERP software.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and financial decision-making skills.
