Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Genset Field Technician to join our team in Jammu. The role involves installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel generator (DG) sets at customer locations. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with DG sets of various capacities and be willing to travel across Jammu and nearby regions for field service assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and test diesel generator (DG) sets at customer sites.
- Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of DG sets.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and control panel faults.
- Carry out periodic servicing, including oil changes, filter replacement, coolant checks, and battery maintenance.
- Inspect engines, alternators, AMF panels, ATS panels, and synchronization systems.
- Conduct load testing and performance verification after repairs.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures during field operations.
- Maintain accurate service reports, inspection records, and maintenance documentation.
- Coordinate with internal teams for spare parts, technical support, and timely service completion.
- Provide technical guidance to customers on the operation and routine maintenance of DG sets.
- Attend emergency breakdown calls and ensure prompt issue resolution.
- Travel across Jammu and nearby project locations as required.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of diesel generator systems and power generation equipment.
- Hands-on experience with DG sets from OEMs such as Cummins, Kirloskar, Caterpillar, Mahindra Powerol, Ashok Leyland, or equivalent.
- Ability to troubleshoot engine, alternator, electrical wiring, AMF/ATS panels, and control systems.
- Ability to read electrical diagrams and service manuals.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools such as multimeters, insulation testers, and engine diagnostic equipment.
- Good communication and customer-handling skills.
- Ability to work independently in field conditions.
Qualifications
- ITI (Diesel Mechanic/Electrician/Fitter) or Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
- 2–5 years of relevant field service experience.
- Valid driving license preferred.
- Willingness to travel extensively within Jammu and nearby regions.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of DG sets ranging from 15 kVA to 1000+ kVA.
- Knowledge of synchronization panels, load sharing systems, and preventive maintenance practices.
- Experience working with industrial, telecom, infrastructure, or defense sector clients will be an added advantage.
