We are looking for an experienced and responsible Foreman to supervise day-to-day production activities in our luxury furniture manufacturing unit. The Foreman will be responsible for managing shop-floor manpower, coordinating production activities, maintaining quality standards, ensuring timely completion of orders, and minimizing material and production wastage.
The ideal candidate should have strong practical knowledge of luxury furniture manufacturing, woodworking, upholstery, polishing/finishing, hardware installation, and custom furniture production.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities on the factory floor.
- Allocate work to carpenters, craftsmen, polishers, upholsterers, helpers, and other production staff.
- Read and understand furniture drawings, measurements, specifications, and production instructions.
- Ensure furniture is manufactured according to approved designs, dimensions, materials, and quality standards.
- Monitor production schedules and ensure orders are completed within the committed timelines.
- Coordinate with the Production Manager, Designers, Purchase Team, Store, and Quality Team.
- Inspect workmanship at different stages of production and ensure defects are corrected immediately.
- Maintain high standards of finishing, detailing, alignment, joints, polish, upholstery, and hardware installation.
- Ensure proper utilization of wood, veneer, MDF/plywood, fabrics, leather, hardware, adhesives, polish, and other materials.
- Control material wastage and report shortages or excess consumption.
- Monitor worker productivity and maintain discipline on the shop floor.
- Train and guide workers on proper manufacturing methods and quality requirements.
- Ensure machines, tools, and equipment are used correctly and safely.
- Coordinate between different production sections to avoid delays and bottlenecks.
- Check finished products before dispatch and ensure they meet company quality standards.
- Maintain daily production records, manpower reports, rejection/rework records, and material usage reports.
- Identify production problems and take corrective action in consultation with management.
- Ensure cleanliness, housekeeping, safety, and proper organization of the factory floor.
- Follow company policies regarding quality, safety, attendance, productivity, and material handling.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Foreman/Supervisor in furniture manufacturing.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of custom and luxury furniture production.
- Good understanding of woodworking, carpentry, polishing, finishing, upholstery, and furniture hardware.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and furniture specifications.
- Strong manpower handling and team-management skills.
- Good understanding of production planning and workflow.
- Ability to identify quality issues and ensure corrective action.
- Strong attention to detail, especially for premium/luxury finishes.
- Ability to work under production deadlines.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Basic knowledge of production reporting and documentation.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and machine handling.
Preferred Candidate
Candidates with experience in high-end residential furniture, hotel furniture, custom furniture, luxury interiors, bespoke furniture, or export-quality furniture manufacturing will be preferred.
