The Maintenance Technician is responsible for carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance of the hotel's electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, and other building systems. The role ensures that all hotel facilities, equipment, guest rooms, and public areas are maintained in safe and efficient working condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily inspection of hotel facilities, equipment, and utility areas.
- Attend to maintenance complaints and breakdowns reported by hotel departments.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as per the maintenance schedule.
- Handle basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and general maintenance work.
- Inspect and maintain electrical panels, lighting systems, switches, sockets, and related equipment.
- Attend to plumbing issues such as water leakage, blocked drains, taps, showers, and sanitary fittings.
- Assist in the maintenance of HVAC systems, pumps, motors, generators, and other engineering equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, staff areas, and back-of-house facilities.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests to minimize inconvenience to guests and hotel operations.
- Maintain proper records of maintenance work, breakdowns, repairs, and spare parts used.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and maintenance materials are properly handled and stored.
- Follow all safety procedures while carrying out maintenance activities.
- Report major defects, equipment failures, and safety hazards to the Engineering Supervisor/Manager.
- Coordinate with external contractors and service technicians when required.
- Ensure maintenance work is completed with minimum disruption to hotel guests and operations.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area after completing maintenance activities.
- Support emergency maintenance requirements and hotel operations as needed.
- Follow hotel policies, engineering SOPs, fire safety procedures, and statutory safety requirements.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Engineering Manager or management.

Qualification & Experience
- ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, HVAC, or a related technical field.
- Previous experience in hotel, resort, commercial building, or facility maintenance is preferred.
- Experience in a hotel/resort engineering department will be an added advantage.
- Freshers with relevant technical qualifications and practical knowledge may also be considered.
Working Conditions
- Willingness to work in shifts, weekends, public holidays, and during emergencies as required.
- Must follow hotel grooming, safety, and professional standards.
- May be required to work in different areas of the property, including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and outdoor facilities.
