ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As Master planner, you will play a pivotal role in shaping large-scale urban developments, providing both creative and technical input across various planning typologies. This role demands a strong grasp of spatial planning, design strategy, urban analysis, and visual storytelling, combined with an ability to collaborate seamlessly across teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design and development of high-profile masterplans ranging from regional frameworks and strategic plans to detailed urban layouts for mixed-use, residential, industrial, and tourism-focused developments.
- Translate visioning documents, development briefs, and contextual analysis into compelling and feasible urban concepts.
- Support or lead the design of urban layouts, land-use strategies, open space networks, mobility plans, and phasing strategies.
- Create and refine 2D and 3D massing studies, zoning diagrams, land use allocations, and spatial typologies aligned with the project
- Take ownership of defined project components, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of outputs under the direction of project leads.
- Coordinate inputs from subconsultants and internal disciplines including transport, sustainability, infrastructure, architecture, and landscape.
- Contribute to design reports, technical documentation, and planning submissions
- Conduct urban research, policy reviews, site appraisals, market benchmarking, and best-practice precedent studies.
- Analyze socio-economic, demographic, environmental, and infrastructural data to inform planning decisions.
- Prepare GIS-based spatial assessments and mapping to support strategy development
- Prepare clear, visually impactful presentation materials, diagrams, and reports for internal reviews, client presentations, and public exhibitions.
- Participate in design reviews, team critiques, and client workshops, contributing ideas and taking initiative to resolve design challenges.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- The minimum qualifications for this role are:
- A bachelor's degree in architecture, urban design, or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in urban planning and/or masterplanning, ideally with experience in the GCC or other rapidly urbanizing global contexts.
- Strong proficiency in architectural design software, such as GIS, AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, or other 3D modeling and visualization tools.
- Strong proficiency in excel for area calculations.
- Excellent hand drawing or sketching skills
- Strong presentation and graphic design skills and familiarity with visualization tools.
- Extensive knowledge of architectural design principles, urban planning, urban design and sustainable design.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawings and documentation.
- Good understanding of local regulations and standards.
- Relevant experience in the GCC and an understanding of the cultural norms and requirements of the region.
- Familiarity with planning policies, sustainability frameworks (LEED, Estidama), and local UAE authority requirements (e.g., RTA, DDA, DDA Masterplanning Guidelines).
