A CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Operator manages automated machining equipment to fabricate precision parts and tools from raw materials. They are responsible for setting up machines, running pre-programmed jobs, inspecting finished products for quality, and performing routine equipment maintenance. [1, 2, 3, 4]Key Responsibilities
- Machine Setup & Operation: Safely set up, adjust, and operate CNC machines (e.g., mills, lathes, or plasma tables) according to production specifications. [1, 2]
- Blueprint Reading: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and blueprints. [1, 2]
- Quality Control: Measure, inspect, and test finished components using precision tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) to ensure they meet exact tolerances and standards. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
- Programming & Troubleshooting: Load and run pre-written programs, make minor tool offset adjustments, and troubleshoot machining errors or malfunctions. [1, 2]
- Material Handling: Load raw materials into the machine and unload finished parts. [1, 2]
- Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance (cleaning, lubricating) and change dull or broken cutting tools. [1, 2, 3]
